Another vote for Orange Box here, Currently costing $50 on steam (plus tax) or under £20 from various online places (i.e. lovefilm) for the physical product. Be aware that even if you install from CD, you're in for a long slog while it updates itself.

I'd also suggest Call of Duty 4 for a more cinematic type game and I think there's a chance you might even be able to run crysis. That one is definitely worth a go. Runs ok on my machine (P4D 2.8 with 1.5GB RAM and ATI X1950 Pro with medium settings). Looks stunning but is extremely demanding on the PC.

I'm a big fan of Battlefield 2 and would also recommend
Call of Duty 4(I got it for Xmas).

Americas Army is a cracking free game but there aren't many
european servers so ping tends to be high.
