Never heard a " rattling " Honda ever, have heard plenty of rattling Fords and Vauxhalls tho'..

i had an audi 80 about 10 years ago and was nice and quiet on the motorway so was less tiring on long journeys. i guess i thought an a4 might be suitable or an accord as i have driven one and found it to be good. just wanted any other ideas or opinions.
  • If you’ve not already done so. may i suggest you go to the autotrader website and do a search in the £1500-2000 price range of both the accord and A4, you will get an idea at least of how new you can afford. Maybe upto £2500 as there’s always room for haggling esp. post Christmas

yes i have done this thanks.

i was more interested in opinions of car makes and models suitable for my needs.
  • ive just had a quick look on myself, theres not much of those cars in your price range, i guess people dont want to sell them!

on Honestjohn they rate the mondeo (i personally dont- too dull) but im sure you could get one in good condition within your budget and still have some money left over for any repairs.

Almost certain the have a cam belt, you need a Nissan Almera or Primera if you want a car with a cam chain, both excellent vehicles.

I actually have a Primera, never any problems.;)

Well it looks like you may well be stuck with a car with a cam belt then, the Mazda 626 is a lovely driving car, but it does have a cam belt.;)

how does a c class rate as a motorway car. i presume this will be nice and quiet and refined?

went to look at an accord today and it was a bit too long for my driveway, is the newer one from 1998 shorter?
