Suggestions please - Barclays keeping blocking my account

Hi All

I just need a some advice.  I have been a Barclays customer for a long time and had no issues.

Recently I have had a couple of matured savings bonds and transferred them into my Barclays account, which is my nominated account.  When I have then tried to transfer it online into a new savings account - they have said they will defer transfer and only release it in a couple of days.  Then when I try to log in online a code of 1176 comes up and they have blocked the account.  This has happened twice in 2 weeks.  I've had to go to the branch to sort out and had to speak to their Fraud Dept over the phone to unblock the account.

The problem is that I now have another savings bond which is due to mature and am worried I will have to go through the same process again.  I can't seem to move any money online without them blocking my account?

What to do about this?  Obviously, in future I am thinking of changing my nominated account to  another bank.  Will I have to remain in a low paying savings account so that I don't have to transfer any money online?

Help please?

An ancient thread on here suggested that this error code relates to an unexpected IP address - have you changed how you access your Barclays account recently, or your internet provider, etc?

What sort of amounts are you transferring?

It may be in part that they are worried about you being scammed or being used as a mule for money laundering.

Perhaps if you tell them in advance what you are expecting in, from where and that you will be wanting to transfer it to a named account of your own that they will be less difficult.

When I have then tried to transfer it online into a new savings account

    That might be the problem.

Banks are wary of you transferring finds to newly opened accounts in case you have been duped into doing it.

Transferring to an existing savings account might not be a problem.

1.If you have an existing saving account could you not use that as your nominated account?
    2. If you have more than one current account, why have you not already changed your nominated account already?

Having at least two current accounts at different banks, is a good idea in my opinion
