Faulty wheelbarrow

Hello

my husband bought a wheelbarrow for my xmas present from eBay after about 5 weeks one of the handles became loose with the weld breaking.

the supplier refused to pay for the faulty part to be returned and my husband paid for a courier to return it for repair.

now the supplier says that part of the handle was lost in transit and that we need to purchase new handles at a cost of £25

my husband has raised a claim with the courier and asked for a refund

the supplier is being difficult and says he doesn’t have the refund us and that my husband has no consumer rights here

what can he do?

Thank you

    Hello OP

Private seller selling a one off wheelbarrow or business seller? (Most likely business but worth checking).

RE your return, have you tracked it? Is it lost?

How much was the wheelbarrow? How did you pay when completing eBay Checkout?

Are there two separate parties here you are looking for refunds from, the supplier and the courier?

If I bought Mrs O a wheel barrow for Christmas it also would have a broken handle - from her hitting me over the head with it.

Hopefully you get it sorted. Assuming a private sale (not business) from a British retailer and no evidence of abuse, then within the first 6 months they should have replaced it and covered all costs.

Just curious why husband would buy a wheelbarrow as a Christmas present, how did he disguise it to surprise you on Christmas morning?
Possibly because it was something someone wanted.

That may have been what she requested.

It could have been in a box.

Must have been a super wheelbarrow if replacement handles are £25. Complete wheelbarrows from Scewfix are less than  £60
