Ryanair cancel routes

Options
I purchased return flights from Manchester to Billund, flying early April, as a Christmas gift for my son as he was desperate to visit LEGOLAND. Yesterday I received an email from Ryanair cancelling their flights to Billund for commercial reasons. Turns out they are cancelling the route from the end of March.
I have now booked a trip to the uk LEGOLAND instead, including flights as we are in Scotland. However when I go onto my Ryanair account it no longer shows the flights as cancelled and no option to request a refund.
Does anyone have any advice or had similar? Thanks

Safe to assume that they are in the process of refunding all the bookings made in that case. Rather than mess around with rescheduling.

What did the email advise, i.e. did it suggest that you needed to go to your account and request a refund, or did it state that these would be issued automatically?

It advised that I could either change to another flight or request a refund.

If they’d just offered automatic refunds that would’ve been so much simpler!

Another option, if he still wants to go to Billund is a flight to Copenhagen, and then the train to Billund.

But I see you've booked for the Windsor park instead.

Thanks for the suggestion. I’ve promised him Billund some day, maybe next year so I’ll keep it in mind.

  • Looks like it’s been a website glitch as I can now see the option for a refund. Thanks everyone

Legally speaking, they cannot offer a automatic refund. UK261 requires them to give you the choice.

Of course, the real winner here is BA, who now have the monopoly on this route, and have suddenly seen their planes fill up over the last week (from someone else who was looking to do this trip!)
