3 PAYG Sim

I have an old iPhone 4s which has a 3 payg sim in. It was used as back up phone so I went on periodically to make a call or send a text to keep the line active.

I have received an email today telling me to use some credit before 5th March to keep the plan and number. I have tried to do this but just receive a “no service” message. When I try to log onto my account the website wants to send me a security code to the phone to sign on, obviously this is not possible as I have no service.
Anyone have any ideas what may be the problem or another way to log onto my account?

The iPhone 4s is a 3G phone. 3G has been switched off and so you will need to change your phone.

Your SIM will work in a more modern phone and you will then be able to receive the text to access your account.

Thanks @PHK put the sim in my daily phone and no problem getting service.
I thought I would be able to use 2G for calls when 3G was switched off but obviously not. Guess I will just have to forgot about a back up phone, it did come in handy now and again.

Three never had 2G, they started with 3G, hence the name.

Well my little iPhone 4s is now a brick despite it working just fine. Crazy, but that’s technology for you.

Lots of operators (other than 3 and its MVNOs) still have 2G, at least for a while. Get a free SIM from Asda Mobile and stick a fiver on it.
