Why do I have a gas charge when I didn't use any energy?

Hi all.
Looking at the British Gas app, it seems I was charged for some gas I didn't even use. It was between 5.00-5.30am.
I was asleep at the time.
I don't have any central heating on and I've got an Ideal combi boiler.
The gas I *did* use was a couple of hours later and that's not showing.
What is going on?

I'm not sure. I'll have a look. I've recently moved into the property (first time) and I'm a bit of a novice when it comes to this kind of thing0

All modern boilers have a frost stat and will fire up when it's really cold. The only way to stop it is to isolate from the mains (gas or electric) but why risk frost damage?Mr Generous - Landlord for more than 10 years. Generous? - Possibly but sarcastic more likely.2

Apparently the pre-heat function was off, so not sure where that extra energy is coming from.0

..and how much later was the gas reported? And the gas used later that was not reporting, is it now showing?
There's a small chance of the the gas meter clock being wrong/offset, but I expect electricity would be the same in that case.1 -

For some reason, the quote function seems knacked on here, but the energy usage was about 5p 😳 - but i guess it's the principal of the situation really.
And the gas reading has always had issues. Sometimes I don't get the info for a whole month.
