Looking for a cheap sim with minimum top up to use for just one verify text (yes really!)
Ok, I'll explain myself.
I've been using Facebook Marketplace for a number of years, no issues.
Recently I tried to post on ad to sell a desk, I was asked to confirm my identity. This process asked to use my phone number, presumably to send me a code. Lo and behold, an error message:
"The phone number that you're trying to verify was recently used to verify a different account. Please try a different number."
I've tried everything, I can't get past the message.
I tried my wife's number, came back with the same message (presumably as she has her own account).
Tried deleting my number and re-adding, tried disabling 2 factor authentication and then setting it up, still nothing.
So, after scouring the depths of reddit where more than a few users are experiencing the same problem, I'd like to try just purchasing a new sim, with a new number for just that one text to verify my identity (!)
Obviously I'll never be using it again so a free sim with minimum top up is what I would need.

I keep seeing plenty of SIMs on sale at supermarkets etc for 49p. Buy one of them and then see the terms and conditions and top it up with as little as possible. Might even work to receive texts without further payment?0

Asda Mobile will send you a SIM for free. They used to come with enough credit to allow you to connect to Asda to get the thing registered (or receive a text).
May not still be the case, but top-up is £5 (others have min £10) if not.0
