Virgin Media; I've given my 30 days notice and would like the deal for new customers?

Hi all, I rang VM as I was out of contract and needed the new deal offered on MSE (£23 per m onth equiv). They offered me 3 seperate prices through 3 different agents and all were a lot more than the current deal offered. My notice period ends 16th February; Can I get the new deal now while in notice or will I have to wait until after the 30 days?
thanks in advance (I only need broadband)

Check the T&C's but I'd be surprised if Virgin Media will class you as a new customer immediately after your existing contract expires, otherwise everyone would be doing it to get lower prices...0

I believe you'd actually have to be disconnected for x months to be eligible for a new customer offer.. not immediately after your notice period ends and certainly not before.
Generally the way you can SOMETIMES get better offers is by cancelling and then being open to their retention calls where they might offer you something better. I say sometimes because it won't always work, they won't always call back.
An anecdote so limited use to you, but when helping my parents, we cancelled, got a call back, and ultimately negotiated an offer which was equivalent to new customer offers (Marginally higher price but that included a sim which would replace the cost of a separate sim). However if this call hadn't come through, we were happy and ready to move to a different provider entirely.0 -
You'd have to look at their T&Cs to see what they class as a new customer (i.e not been a customer for x number of years). But you will absolutely not get a new customer rate by simply cancelling and going straight back. If you have the luxury of more than one provider operating in your area, see what deal you can get with someone else. If you haggle with VM and don't get any joy, you know you have a back-up with another provider. It's up to you how long you spend on trying to negotiate a deal, or cancelling and waiting for that call back. I personally ring up and say it's too much, and end up getting some discount but usually not nearly as cheap as new customers can.0

I put in a move request to Vodafone as virgin price doubling + April rise.I happened to log into my virgin account and noticed there was an offer as contract ending.2 offer buttons I could press. View your deal"18 month deal. BB & phoneWasn’t too bad if it wasn’t for the April fixed rises.
£28.30 a month
£31.80 from your April 2025 bill
£35.30 from your April 2026 bill
I would wait until the 10 April and haggle/move. Cheaper in the long run
I think you need to be away from virgin for 12 months to be classed as a new customer.I was a whole hour on the phone when I haggled 18 months ago. Was worth it. £23/month0 -
I did the cancel trick 8 days ago (31 days before contract ends on 3 March). The only word from VM is the email saying cheerio and that the prepaid packaging for the equipment return is on the way. Two questions:
- Has the leave manoeuvre not worked this time?
- If so, can I reverse the cancellation right up until 2 March?
