Contact the buyer and explain and ask them to cancel?1

I have had a couple of EBAY purchases cancelled, both for the stated reason that the seller discovered the item had been damaged before sending!!!!!1

Is this the phone you dont want to risk sending?0

I cancelled the sale of a phone last month, used the “item is broken” excuse. I also messaged the seller explaining that I had dropped the phone and damaged it, apologising profusely.0

You should cancel using the correct option, if item is out of stock then you choose those options and will get a seller warning. If buyer has requested cancellation then you use that and get no warning.Captain_Maniwaring said:Reluctantly having to cancel a sale ,seller has paid (although I think the actual money is held nowadays ) what’s the least damaging way to cancel ? To cancel go to the sold page, use the drop down menu and click on cancel sale, and then choose the correct option. Buyers money will be refunded and sale cancelled.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. Buyer has paid and can’t just cancel, anyway the OP doesn’t suggest that it’s buyer that wants to cancel at all. If however Buyer has messaged asking to cancel then OP can easily cancel especially if buyer has used the official cancel request option as it just asks seller to agree and the rest is done automatically as soon as seller confirms they are able to do so.Krakkkers said:Contact the buyer and explain and ask them to cancel?I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. One way is to do nothing - don't post the item
Eventually the seller will raise an item not received - and then simply refund them1 -
The correct way has been already mentioned by Soolin, and depending on the reason for cancelling eg buyers request etc then the appropriate reason needs to be selected. Goto sellers hub select appropriate item Click the circle with three dots and in the drop down menu select cancel order. From there the seller can cancel the order and refund the buyer.Olinda99 said:One way is to do nothing - don't post the item

The OP though would need to falsely claim item was sent otherwise item will eventually show as late, and that impacts a seller’s dashboard. It is also incredibly unfair to the buyer to lie and get them to wait for an item that is never goi g to arrive.Olinda99 said:One way is to do nothing - don't post the item

Don’t forget as well that with the new rules the funds are being held, and I don’t know if that complicates the cancellation at all if OP lies and pretends item has been sent. Potentially, it could mean buyer waiting a few weeks for their refund - I’m not sure I’d be happy and I would certainly be leaving poor feedback to any seller that did that to me.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards.
