@Gers I'm having my shingles jab next week but, as far as I know, it will only be the one visit as I'm now over 70. My younger friend had two separate jabs, a few weeks apart.Seems that NHS Scotland only offer the double jags option. We get the Shingrix one here, no choice.@TA - getting out further than Skipton will be lovely when the weather warms up. Finding a 'good fit' cafe is always a faff, but it's fun trying them all out. It's getting darker here, not looking good for the rest of the day.

Morning all and thanks for the start @ScarletRibbons. I hope your procedure goes smoothly and you get to come home today x
A wasted day yesterday as the drain company failed to show. They will be here at lunchtime apparently. I had a WI committee meeting last night and got home at 10:30pm so have a niggling headache this morning. Dinner is meatballs and spaghetti later - nice and easy.@arielgirl - could you batch cook and portion up/freeze things to make it easier during your working week?Battersea sounds fun @camelot1001 I would like to visit the power station. Did you do the lift?
Have a good day everyone

Morning from Mehefinland
Spent an hour at my local primary school yesterday with a lovely lady who runs their outdoor classroom in the wooded area in the school grounds. Met up with some people from the local cement works who have been asked if they could help out with surfacing on the paths ( they are currently woodchip but it rots down very quickly with 150+ kids in there every week). Bless them, not only can they supply some material, but also the labour to spread it out. They are keen to make connections with the local schools, so it was a win-win. I'm a school governor and an ex-employee so still had some contacts.
This same lady's OH has recently had a stroke ( well in fact 7!!) is now partially paralysed and is climbing the walls. He was a keen musician and can no longer play his guitar as he doesn't have the control in his fingers. I have a dulcimer which is not a complicated instrument ( its the Appalachian kind not the hammer type) and most people can get a tune out quite easily, so I offered it to her on loan. There's nothing worse than being stuck in front of the tv all day if you have been an active person. He was a self employed builder, so i think it's hurting atm.
Weather here is very odd- very cold last night in the late evening and the gritters were out, but overnight rain and it's all washed off this morning! Sun is peeking but not coming out fully to play
Was gifted some foxglove seedlings, and an absolutely Ginormius Dahlia tuber yesterday ( it fills a bucket!), so todays task will be to see if i can separate it into smaller pieces. need to be mindful of the 'eyes' on it, as they are the growing shoots in sleep mode. Will be interesting to see how it pans out.
Cwtches to the poodles - hugs and spoons as always to those in need

Morning all, we had rain for most of the day yesterday and it cleared away later. Today the sun is out but we're back to the icy cold weather.
Today will be spent sorting out the dining room, everything seems to get dumped in there, then filling the dw and getting that going. I pulled out some pasta bake from the chest freezer yesterday for tea today and now I need to do a freezer sort out too as it's all jumbled up, I can feel another list in the making 😁 Ooooh I love a list !
I shall finish my jigsaw this afternoon as there's only about 30 pieces left to fit, then I might bring down another new one or read the book I started yesterday.
Scarlet good luck at the hospital, hope you don't have to stay in.
Camelot I'm glad you had a lovely time, hope your appointment goes smoothly this morning.
Take care all, hugs to anyone in need.

Morning everyone
Scarlet Ribbons I hope today's procedure is over with quickly x
We're promised sunshine today so I have my bedding in the washing machine - I'll get it hung outside before I go down to mam and dads for a cuppa. Then I need some bread and fruit and I'll have a look in Homebase, I was told yesterday that ours is closing at the end of February and will become a B and M.
Then this afternoon I'm stewarding again at our local cinema for a film, We live in Time.
Little one is still full of cold and still not eating. Her blood sugars are still going up and down at random. DD rang the RVI yesterday and was told to put her back on her feeding pump, they'll ring her on Thursday to see how she is. I, haven't seen her as DD wants no germs going in the house while she's poorly, and with me working in nursery it's sensible to keep away. I'll maybes ring for a chat with her later.
Right I'm going to get moving, hope everyone has a good day today x13 -

Forgot. I kept Dawn's phone going after she died for various reasons, but invariably I forget to check it. Friday last there was a voice mail left relating to an ISM ( Imperial service medal) which she was nominated for after umpteen years meritous service to the MOD. This all kicked off a considerable time ago, and I had forgotten about it. So I rang back, but as it was latish on Friday by the time I got the message they had obviously gone home. Fast forward to Monday and another message saying they wished to speak with her. This time I rang back and got a 'real' person. I explained the situation and after suitable condolences etc. I asked if the medal would still be awarded being as the recipient was no longer with us. Well that one threw them a bit! The poor girl on the phone became quite flustered and eventually said she would have to enquire from her supervisor , who unfortunately is on sick leave. I'm not in any hurry, but it would be nice to receive something that acknowledged the time she spent working for the MOD at the airfield, in lots of different roles through the years. A friend of ours worked for the Army recruitment office in Cardiff for a number of years and I noticed she was wearing a medal at the last remembrance ceremony. I know she didn't have the length of service as Dawn so it is a little galling that they have taken so long to get this sorted. However, we will wait and see - a posthumous award would be gratefully received

Morning all! Dull and not raining again, woop! The sun is trying it's best though...I put the old gas cooker on fbmp last night, someone has asked for it and apparently is coing to fetch it this morning, so hopefully, another thing out of the house. I am surprised, I was thinking it was going to be a struggle to get rid and I'd be messed about no end before it was. We'll see anyway. I need to give it another going over after I pulled it out and disconnected it, so that's to do after I wake up properly. Rest of the day is going to be spent in the room of doom. There are things to move about the place and things to get rid of, like double bed bedding [ we have a king size] so only keeping one set for the future spare bed and probably a good amount of clothes again. The rag bag is also at the ready and I actually cucked a threadbare toel in there last night...Scarlet, hope it all goes swiwwingly today for you and you're back in your own bed tonight. TA, sometimes it's nice to chop and change
camelot, sounds like a lovely weekend, hope the vip visitors are appreciative of tea and cake. Ariel, I second batch cooking, especially things that can go with something, like spag bog, meatballs, fajita fillings etc. Gers, well done roganising and being a good friend
Ruby, hope the ss listen to your concerns for him. remmie, I laughed at her birthday present! shouldn't have, but did. mehefin, good job with the paths! SO, just keep on keeping on..Izzy, good luck with the chat, put all heavy implements away first
nanny, hope your dad is not reneging on poa stuff ....Take care all today, look forward to spring!

Morning all. Today's weather report is for sunny intervals and a light breeze
followed by a cold night with temps down to -3
.
As predicted, I didn't get out for a walk yesterday because it was raining by the time I'd put away the shopping delivery but at least I'm fully stocked up again. Apart from needing fresh milk and probably more F&V, that should do me for the month. Instead of the walk I set about moving photos from the laptop and MS storage onto a USB stick and deleting lots of stuff I don't need any more. That took care of a good while but, other than that, it was just a gentle pottering day of not-a-lot.
Something that made me smile yesterday. We have one secondary and two primary schools on the estate so parking at drop off/pick up times becomes even worse than normal. In the afternoon I saw the young woman who lives over the road place small No Parking cones outside her house - I'm guessing she must be fed up of losing "her spot" when she gets back from picking up her boys. I don't know where she got them from or, given it's a public highway, what the legal position is but it's obviously her solution!
I'll be out for a walk today as I have a book to return and can pop in to the Co-op for the weekly bits on the way. I think there's probably enough soft plastics to take with me too. It's general waste collection today but we're still waiting for the recycling bins to be done - will they, won't they do them as the same time? We'll have to see. Tea tonight is a pork steak in BBQ sauce, spicy wedges and steamed cabbage.
TA - Enjoy Skipton. I was 30 when I had DD and 32 with DS and clearly remember being described as an "elderly" first time mum!How dare they!
Nanny - Glad to hear your Dad has agreed to you having POA although I can imagine him changing his mind further down the line. I hope not, it will make life a bit easier for you and DH.
Taff - I have yet to tackle DH's tool collection - there's no way I'll need any of that. For now, it's all in a big walk-in cupboard so at least I don't have to look at it! Good luck with the Room of Doom.
Scarlet - Good luck at the Eye hospital today, fingers crossed you don't have to stay in overnight.
Gers- I was ambushed into having my shingles vaccine (just one) 5 years ago at a routine annual check up but having it done there and then meant I didn't have to make a separate appointment for it.
Coxy - Hope your drain people turn up today.
dp1 - Sorry to hear LO isn't any better. A sensible decision on your DD's part to restrict visiting but you'll obviously miss seeing them.
mehefin - That's very kind of you to offer to loan out the dulcimer. And I hope you get good news on a posthumous award for Dawn's services.
Well, all this waffling won't get the baby a new bonnet so I must get on. Enjoy the day if you can, healing wishes for the Poodles and, as always, hugs where needed or wanted. XBe kind to others and to yourself too.11 -
Morning all, I hope the procedure goes well Scarlet.I haven't stopped this morning- amazing how an expected visitor spurs you on in the tidying . My cousin is coming for a cuppa and a chat this afternoon, hopefully we'll get almost a couple of hours before our respective DGC pickups.I am getting some stuff ready for the tip,and CS. DS did a tip run the other day but I wasn't ready really but an old duvet and pillows went.Tea will be something quick once we're back from school, possibly scampi for the men. I made 2 aubergine parmigianas yesterday, had some for tea, then froze the rest in 2 containers.Meat is getting low in the freezer, there is a beef stew but it's not long since we had thatMehefin hope you get Dawns award.Hope LO is better soon @dp1Just started absolutely chucking it down here.Take care all:heartsmil 'A woman is like a teabag: You never know her strength until you drop her in hot water'. Hi everyone,
I'm in the last cohort for the shingles vaccine so I've still got some time to wait.
Mehefin, I hope Dawn's award comes through.
I'm still under the weather, it's so annoying to not be able to do all the things I want to. Mind you a lot of time is being taken up by entertaining the children. This morning we've been playing ludo and working through his Hot Wheels magazine.
I want to sort out the worktop of doom this afternoon I'm fed up with it being a dumping ground.8
