Rejoining hue cable?

I don't understand you point. In this case we know the "utility", don't we? And different colours are excessive IMHO. Not to mention the fact that it's impossible to fit inner heatshrinks so that they cover the original colours completely.Eldi_Dos said:

Small diameter heat shrinks for each wire, then a big one (or two) on the top for the whole cable.Or, the same, but cheaper - https://www.aliexpress.com/w/wholesale-New-80W-Adjustable-Temperature-Electric-Soldering-.html?spm=a2g0o.detail.search.0 (add 20% VAT).then six types of heat shrink, 2 mm, and a, bigger shrink for the main cable. Why six types, not two? If you order from Ali, add it too https://www.aliexpress.com/w/wholesale-heat-shrink.html?spm=a2g0o.productlist.search.0
yeah I meant 6 different colours
Depends which utility or customer you are working for whether they are used.

I see, so similar to what you'd put over a break csble on a bike, but more like a tube, so 6 of them, then heat shrink over each one, then shrink over the lot, and the repaired section will be 'bulging' so to speak cos of the extra Dia from the ferrelsEldi_Dos said:@ChilliBob
Would ferrule inline crimps work, oversleeved with heatshrink tubing.
Have a look round Screwfix catalogue.0 -
I think in my case if I happened to have a kit with a bunch of different colours, I may as well use them rather than all in one. But I'm not too precious! Not a visible repair.grumpy_codger said:

I like the fuerrel idea, seems hair dryer and a pair of long nose pliers and I should be sorted for tools!0 -
The ferrules I was looking at are insulated so no need for individual heakshrinks.ChilliBob said:

If you give yourself a long enough sheath cut you can stagger the ferrules so diameter is kept smaller.
When you come to shrink down the heatshrink, protect the original cable with a couple of strips of kitchen foil to stop it from getting scorched.0 -
Ah I see them now - these ones
https://www.screwfix.com/p/essentials-insulated-red-0-5-1-5mm-crimp-butts-100-pack/94616?ref=SFAppShare
That makes sense. The staggering also makes sense, alas, I only have about 8-10 cm to play with on the side near the light, so limited options there.
So a cluster of these will be something like 15mm problably once I'm finished perhaps some 20mm shrink with 2:1 shrinkage and I should be sorted.
Well, in theory :01 -
Personally, I don't like them, especially for low voltage when oxidisation makes big difference, but if you use them at least try to make two wire cores overlapping for bigger contact area.

Interesting, what do you mean by oxidation in this context? - are you suggesting they'd go rusty inside or something?
0 -
Yes, sort of. Even in dry environment copper gets dark with time. Much worse in humid environment, but high voltage current finds it's way through thin oxide layer anyway.

A couple of bits of smaller diameter HS tubing to bridge the gap..
Any language construct that forces such insanity in this case should be abandoned without regrets. –
