Small diameter heat shrinks for each wire, then a big one (or two) on the top for the whole cable.Or, the same, but cheaper - https://www.aliexpress.com/w/wholesale-New-80W-Adjustable-Temperature-Electric-Soldering-.html?spm=a2g0o.detail.search.0 (add 20% VAT).then six types of heat shrink, 2 mm, and a, bigger shrink for the main cable.Why six types, not two? If you order from Ali, add it too https://www.aliexpress.com/w/wholesale-heat-shrink.html?spm=a2g0o.productlist.search.00 -
If you're going to use a terminal block outside, make sure you put the whole lot in an IP68 rated electrical box. Otherwise it won't be long before damp gets in.Most tapes will deteriorate outdoors. Self-amalgamating tape might work. But a box would be better.If it sticks, force it.
If it breaks, well it wasn't working right anyway.0 -
One you joined it up used some steel conduit. Fox proof

Cheers, yeah, that was my original idea, however, I think it's only a good idea to test the light still works. If it does and I want to use it outside still then I think I need to solder as above.Ectophile said:If you're going to use a terminal block outside, make sure you put the whole lot in an IP68 rated electrical box. Man I love this place, that looks awesome, starting to rack up this outside lighting business, I think I've got about 25m of cable so far :0Typhoon2000 said:One you joined it up used some steel conduit. Fox proof

Cheers for the idea and linkage0 -
Cheers, yeah I saw a few kits at Amazon, was surprised that anything from Screwfix or Toolststion was a lot more expensive, made me wonder if these cheaper kits would do the job. Solder at Toolststion was about 15 quid on its own!grumpy_codger said:ChilliBob said:

And yeah I meant 6 different colours, although I suppose it's not super critical0 -

Yeah, a, bit lame when it's then sealed and nobody will see, and I don't think I saw the same colours either! I suspect this is one of those things where I'll spend ages on it, get all the kit I need and it'll sit in the shed for three years till I do anything :0grumpy_codger said:

Depends which utility or customer you are working for whether they are used.0 -
@ChilliBob
Would ferrule inline crimps work, oversleeved with heatshrink tubing.
Have a look round Screwfix catalogue.0
