Rebel energy
Hi, me and my girlfriend have recently moved into our first place together, our electricity supply has been taken over by a scam company called Rebel Energy, when my landlord calls them they refuse to talk to him because he’s not the account holder and when I call them they say we can’t switch because we’re under contract. We never signed a contract with them, their prices are extortionate and they’re refusing to let us switch suppliers. What do we do?

Which supplier do you think you should be with? Who was supplying the property on the day you moved in?spur_1882 said:We never signed a contract with them, their prices are extortionate and they’re refusing to let us switch suppliers. What is your tariff called and what rates have they applied?N. Hampshire, he/him. Octopus Intelligent Go elec & Tracker gas / Vodafone BB / iD mobile. Ripple Kirk Hill member.

So the previous tenants were with EDF, they stopped paying all their bills and ended up owing £2,500 to EDF, this Rebel energy company stole the supply of the flat 2 months before we moved in. They’re charging us 39p a day and 29p per KWh. Our bill last month was £120 but they underestimated by 200 KWh, we’ve just had our bill for this month and it’s £230.0

Yes, they had already taken over the energy supply for the flat so we then became their customer but we didn’t receive any letters or anything until they sent me an email on the 31st December with our first bill. (No idea how they got my email address). The bill says Tariff Wren 9. It means nothing to me, I don’t know what it all means.0

Did you give them a reading, and tell them when you moved in?Are they trying to bill you for before your rental agreement started?0
-
We gave a reading to the landlord when we moved in so they might have given it to them, I’m not sure. No they’re definitely not trying to bill us for before we moved in, they’re just charging us high prices and they’re refusing to let us switch supplier0

Do you mean you tried to switch, dealing with the new supplier, and Rebel blocked the switch?0
