Have you singled out Felixstowe because you live there, or nearby?  I'd have thought that there'd be plenty of towns about which the same could be said....

Yes there are plenty of older people who can use the internet.
But there are also people who aren't confident on using the internet.
My mum never worked and my dad did all the financial stuff.
Now that my dad has passed, I help mum with her internet banking. And when we can't get it to do what we want, there is either a phone call or a branch visit.
As you get older for some people their health deteriorates and/or their confidence, so using online technology becomes a bigger mountain to climb perhaps even insurmountable.
In which case having somebody to talk to face to face is the best way forward in that particular circumstance.

    Heads up @MSE_Molly_G

" As of January 2025, Lloyds, Halifax and Bank of Scotland customers can use branches across any of the three banks for everyday banking, such as making cash deposits, withdrawals and paying in cheques. Find your nearest Lloyds, Halifax or Bank of Scotland branch – but be aware that this branch could end up closing, too."

I don't think this statement is correct. LBG announced this in Jan 25, but they haven't said when this will be effective other than 'later this year'.

Edited to add: Halifax and Bank of Scotland customers can use either brand (at the counter), but they have no geographic overlap so unlikely to be of use to customers losing their local branch.

It would certainly be sensible for them to say that when your local LBG branch is closes, you can continue seamlessly at the nearest one of whichever flavour, rather than treating them as two separate announcements, which must be related....

Yes, I suspect that will be the messaging, but nevertheless unless MSE know something the rest of us don't then as of January 2025 you still cannot do as the article says.
  • Hi all, thanks for the comments. We checked with the Lloyds Group and it confirmed that customers can use any of the three branches.

Suspect some crosswires here. Has anyone attempted this yet?
