Cancelling within 14 days

I took a 12 month contract with Sky mobile and discovered they don't support VoLTE and wifi calling on my Pixel phone.  The call centre sent the query back to the porting team, and I'm worried the 14 days will be gone before they respond.  I can't make calls over 3G because the calls keep dropping.
Did the 14 days begin when I placed my order?  Do I need to be ready to port my number at short notice?  I've had my number nearly 30 years and don't want to lose it.
