Easyjet flight change but original flight is still running!

My daughter and I are booked on Easyjet flights to attend a diabetes conference in October. We booked a flight departing at 17.50 so that we would arrive for the start of the conference that evening. Easyjet then moved us to a later flight, departing 19.05, meaning we will miss the start of the conference. I started to look at changing to an earlier flight and found that the original flight is still there, departing 17.50, as well as the later one we have been moved to. Easyjet says their policy does not allow them to switch us back to the earlier flight because the 'delay' is less than three hours. My argument is that their policy is not relevant here because they are running the flight that I originally booked! I don't see why I should have to pay additional money to move my flight back to the time I booked. Does anyone know if I have any rights here? Grateful for any help/advice you can offer, thanks.

Risky booking if you were arriving spot on time and 1h difference in schedule makes a big issue.
Not mentioning what's yet to come, general delays, weather delays, luggage delays, traffic in the city..
Anyway, are you sure there are two flights on the same route within 1h? Could be just a system glitch that they haven't updated yet.
What route is this? This would be very confusing for passengers if they had 2 easy jet flights on the same route happening within 1h!
But if that's really the case then you need to get in touch with your travel insurance.0 -
Routing and date?0

@Newbie_John, oops it doesn't help that I got the original flight time wrong. It is 16.50 so just over two hours between the flights and I thought our original timing left enough cushion for small delays, though clearly not a long one.
@Westin the route is EDI to BHX on Thursday 23 October 2025.0 -
I'd give them a few calls - if your flight was 17:50 and moved to 19:05 but there is also a 16:50 flight for the same price (both £30 ish) then the earlier one is actually closer to your date.
Maybe one of the agents could be more flexible?
But I guess up to 3h changes are fine sadly - till October many things can change still - if you really want to arrive on time and they said no multiple times - just grab another ticket - at the moment much cheaper than trying to claim through insurance.1 -
If your original flight is still the same then I also don’t see why they are not accommodating your request to be placed back on the original flight.
As seats are still showing available on this original flight I am not sure why they moved you in the first place.
Just double check however that your original confirmation is for that 16:50/18:00 flight and not the 19:05/20:15 one.
I would call them again seeking another telephone agent.1 -
Thanks both, I appreciate the feedback. I think the 16.50 flight was pulled for air traffic control reasons, so we were moved to the 19.05 flight, but they then reinstated the 16.50 flight but are refusing to put us back on it because our 'delay' from old to new is <3h. I am pursuing it through a Trust pilot review and will see how that works out. I'm grateful to you both for taking the time to respond and try to help!0

has the flight number changed? when they switch times for flights it can cause confusion as they tend to have passengers on a 'flight number' rather than on a departure time. You obviously don't care what the flight number happens to be but you chose a time the fact that that time maybe has a different number has caused issues. I hope common sense prevails and you get back to your original time.0

If they cancel your flight then you’re entitled to a refund. If they won’t change without a fee I’d take the refund then rebook.1
