    So in total,
    PAYMENTS: You £2500, Partner £1500, Total £4000
    REFUNDS:   You £1000, Partner £2140, Total £3140
    NET:             You -£1500, Partner +£740, Total £-860

You both paid for the kitchen for joint use, so I don't think its inherently fair to distinguish that one lost the deposit while you get everything or possibly more than you put in (if you get all of the payments). Equally unfair for partner to profit from this and you lose more than you put in.

The fair thing would be to split the £860 loss either 50/50 or according to your contributions.

Re how to make that happen, I'd try both tracks - ask partner to send over part of the refund and ask the company to refund your card payment.
Thank you for your comment and the maths 👍. I’m asking a question as to if this is legally right ? The kitchen hadn’t been installed it was cancelled yes they measured up which understandably the deposit is lost. I’m trying to determine if money should be paid for back to the cards which was used. Obviously after a break up and kitchen cancellation I want to know if wren have dealt with this in the correct way ?

    Many thanks though.
What if they have?  If the contract is in your ex-partner's name, she's the only one that can take it up with Wren.
