Question about Child Benefit credit transfer ("End date of credits entitlement")

Hello, I would like to transfer the Child Benefit credit for my son to my wife so she can get the NI credit. Now, as I am filling out the form in the form CF411A online, there is a box that requires the "End date of credits entitlement". I assumed that this would be the date that my son turns 16, so I entered that date (which is in the future), but the form requires that this date has to be in the past. So, I got very much confused. Which date should I put in as "End date of credits entitlement"?

You cannot transfer credits that you have not yet become entitled to, only those in the past.  What you should really do is for your wife to claim child benefit and you transfer the credits up to that date. Or, if you wish to keep the CB in your name, transfer in past financial year chunks.

I am already receiving the CB. So the start date of the entitlement is in the past, only the end date should be in the future. The problem is that the form seem to require a past date for the latter.

N I credits are only given until the youngest child on the claim  is 12 years.

If you are continuing to claim the child benefit then you will have to apply to transfer the credits after the end of  each tax year.

This is because you can only transfer them if you do not need them. This can only be done be established once your income for the tax year is known.

If you want your wife to get the credits automatically  she will have to be the child benefit claimant.

Your end date will be 5 April 2024 as that is the last date you will be able to transfer at present.

After 5 April 2025 you can claim for 24/25, assuming your child is still under 12 years.
