    Good luck with it. Divorce is such a horrible time especially when your home is at risk - been there and I feel for you. I felt so badly trapped and burnt by it I don't think I could ever allow myself to get into that situation again.

    It's a strange thing negotiating with your ex where where you are trying to get the best position both knowing that the longer the negotiation goes on for the less money there is in the pot to share but at the same time you do have to stand up yourself and the value of what you took into the relationship and contributed during the relationship.

    It's fundamental that he gets enough to reasonably meet his needs but then you can get into debates about what's a reasonable standard of living etc. In the end I just made my ex an offer that suited their needs and it was more about the structure of the offer than the amounts of money that sold it. As such we were able to put a joint proposal to the court for them to rubber stamp. If you end up with the court making an allocation then you are both at risk of getting less than you could have had by agreement.
