As in it’s a combination of the owners name and dob etc?0

Yes, just looking at Mr Cameron's up there (which does follow the official pattern even though it's a mockup it goes as followsbaldemort said:As in it’s a combination of the owners name and dob etc?

So basically having driving licence details without having the actual card is pretty much useless for fraud?0
-
No, that's effectively the opposite of what was said - if someone has your full name, date of birth and address then that's all useful data for ID theft, but for anyone who already has those details then the extra information on the physical card doesn't help them.baldemort said:So basically having driving licence details without having the actual card is pretty much useless for fraud?

Ah I see.
Although it leaves me totally confused now as earlier folks kinda suggested it should be nothing to worry about having used my driving licence for Id in the us

So taking that into account should I be worrying and what can I do further to help?0

It's easy to get carried away with extremities of views online - I'd say that there isn't any point in worrying but conversely wouldn't claim that there's no risk of fraud at all. Registering your main details with a US business reveals no more data about you than you'll already have provided to others here in the UK and maybe elsewhere too (you presumably flew to the USA after providing similar details to the airline, plus the immigration authorities, plus maybe a car hire and/or accommodation provider, etc, etc, and that's just this one trip), but having done so there's no particular point in fretting about it.baldemort said:So taking that into account should I be worrying and what can I do further to help?
It doesn't do any harm to be reasonably vigilant and check your credit files from time to time, to validate that nobody has done anything untoward with your details:

We could give you a list of 101 more likely things to worry about. As I said, I doubt anybody in Florida is wanting to assume the ID of a random Brit, and the party to whom you gave the ID is (probably) legit anyway.baldemort said:So taking that into account should I be worrying0 -
Thank you all for the help and guidance0
