Morning all, grey and raining most of the night. Glad to see you back home Gers.Yesterday was a quiet day at home pottering.Tea was a chicken & chorizo tray bake, which made a change. I bought some lamb shanks from ald1 intending to do those but there is a long date on them so I'll save them - we called on Sat.morning after DGS match. The boys were playing away and the store is on our way back home - did quite a good stock up!I started reading the decluttering thread and decided to get going, so went & cleared a bathroom cupboard and the one in the downstairs loo, then a drawer in the bedroom so felt quite pleased with myself. I also cut a super king duvet cover into 2 and sewed the now singles back up and put them on the bed. I just couldn't be doing with the SK anymore, it took me so long to change it. I've got another I'll do today too.It makes sense, since DH's hip op we had single duvets on anyway, made it easier for him to get in and out .Not sure what to do for tea yet.Take care everyone.

Morning all from soggy Mehefinland
Biblical rain yesterday morning turned into bright sunshine until it all came back again during the night. The field resembles a paddy field in places, but fortunately dries out reasonably quickly. About the only benefit of having thin soil over limestone. Digging a hole is a nightmare. The local gravediggers have to use a pneumatic drill to get down far enough.. tmi I knowStopped currently and the horses are out doing their impression of water buffalo. It will be ok until the wind picks up again and then they will be a bit frisky.
@Chrisca50. Funny thing is I always think of those appliances as clothes horses - but my Mum had a 'maiden' which was a folding wooden contraption to go in front of the (coal) fire. It was quite effective, but you did have to keep a close eye to prevent singeing! Much more sophisticated now lol.
Need to organise some masonary paint and bits and bobs for later when the weather has improved. In the meantime trying to remove as much ivy and ivy residue off the walls in preparation. Up to four green recycling bags already. Our council has a ring and request service through the winter so will be making that call soon as I'm running out of space ( and bags)
A presentation tonight to the community council from the people who want to build 600 new homes in our village. I suspect it could be a lively meeting. If it all goes through ( with the other 700 proposed) it will double the size of my village. Manic.
Hugs and spoons as always and get those poodles well.

Morning everyone
The wind got up again yesterday afternoon, but this morning is calm. I had a lovely quiet afternoon pottering and reading.
Chrisca 50...our airer was always called a clothes horse when I was little..it was a big wooden one, excellent for turning into a den.
I have more clothes to sort ready for my charity shop collection on Wednesday, I'm determined to get rid of everything I don't wear or don't need. I haven't tackled shoes yet!
Work at lunchtime so I'm going to do a bit before I go. If little one is no better this morning, DD is going to take her to the RVI in Newcastle to get checked, I haven't heard yet if they've gone.
Right, I'll wish you all a good day x14 -
Good morning
Thank you for the start @Gers pleased you are home safe.
We have sun and blue skies at the moment, feels much milder. Washing is out, hope it will line dry.
Nothing planned for today,
Take care

Morning all and thanks for the start @Gers. Really pleased you were able to decamp to Alan's and that you're safely back in your own place now. Agree that was great work from your bank.
There is a broken branch from one of the Scots Pine trees in our garden. It's caught on a lower branch but needs removing as if it falls it'll hit the public footpath/parked cars. DH will tackle that today. I'm taking Mum shopping first and will help when I'm back. I also have 4 parcels to post today - 2 PO, 1 Y0del and 1 1npost. Three different places to visitAlso need to wash my gardening clothes as we are visiting the local community allotment tomorrow.
We had lunch out for DS2's 21st yesterday at the 'laughing tentacled one' - booked a table two weeks ago and were shown into a vast empty restaurant that was freezing cold. We asked to move to the smaller area which meant them moving two smaller tables together, but it was toasty and warm, and others dining in there so some atmosphere at least! Got short shrift from the waitress. When we left 2 hours later the main restaurant was still empty (and cold).
Hope little one is feeling brighter today @dp1 x
Well done all on the decluttering/sorting, it's not easy I know x
Hope Rob's Mum is home soon @RedRuby1231 x
Have a good day everyone

Morning all. Good to see you back safe Gers.
Horrible sounding wind and rain when I got up but it seems to have calmed down now. I haven't quite decided what to do with my day; it might involve making a cake but I certainly have a parcel to drop off at the local paper shop and I ought to do some music practice.
We've been invited to lunch with friends on Friday so I might carry on my review of non alcoholic Prosecco and get us a bottle we haven't tried yet. My current favourite is the Aldi Rose one.
Keep safe and well everyone.

Morning! It was horrendous this morning but not too bad now, was up early doors to take OH to docs again [ this time for a referral letter for a cyst on his eye] am back and have breakfasted on mayak eggs and rice. I like savoury breakfasts but can't seem to do toast and tea anymore, it just doesn't sit well. I've lit the fire because it is very chilly this morning, and my next jobs are second coat of paint under the stairs ready to do shelving tomorrow. Absolutely no gardening in my future or at least for a couple of days. We went out yesterdy for belated Christmas celebrations with friends, for a Sunday dinner...Didn't eat anything until about ten o clock last night after that, it was nice. And my cousin in Italy sent us some pictures of their Sunday dinner, was lovely to see them all smiling and looking happy...Gers, well done for decamping and also being back, there's no place like home etc..you do have good friends
nanny, hard to do but just cut him off if he does it again. I don't know why people think they can get away with being a knob for whatever reason. If you wouldn't put up with strangers treating you like that, don't put up with it from him. And don't feel guilty either. He makes his bed. Izzy, glad you're ok too and not in the missing power brigade..must be awful but great to hear that you're all rallying. Coxy, sory, not getting the laughing tentacles, Happy Squid? Manic Octopus?
shame about the tree. dp1, hope it's all ok for dgd..Rosy, I like to read the decluttering thread too for inspiration..sometimes it works.
Allie, I watch a couple in Italy and their weather is a little bit horrendous too. We haven't had anything near as bad here as over the rest of this country though, so feeling quite grateful....Take care all, poodles on the mend hopefully...

Morning all. It's a bit dull out at the moment but sunny intervals might be on the cards at some later stage today. It rained yesterday evening and carried on throughout the night so everything's looking a bit soggy. Just a few more days and we'll be into February. I'm still wondering where January went!
I decided to go for a walk yesterday after all and managed to dodge the rain but it was a lot colder than I'd expected with icy puddles around. I posted off the completed account closure form for DH's bank account then carried on to the Co-op for a browse - sometimes Sundays are quite good for YS buys. I got a pack of sausages reduced to half price (now frozen), 4 mince pies for 38p (were £1.50 with a bb date of 8th Feb) and, best of all, 4 medium sized baking potatoes. They'd been marked down to 40p but wouldn't scan so the chap on the checkout said I could have them for free.I'll have one of those tonight with chilli. The rest of the day was spent either reading or watching TV and keeping warm.
The postman has just been with a parcel for my next door neighbour. He must be a hardy soul as he was wearing shorts. He said he doesn't feel the cold as he has 30 blocks of flats on his round and that's a lot of steps to walk up and down. Rather him than me - I feel cold just thinking about it!
Right, time to make a move so I'll wish you all a good day. Take care and stay safe. XBe kind to others and to yourself too.10 -

Sunny but windy and cold here, expecting rain later.
Popped to local town on Saturday and joined the library. Have finally re started the knitting I stopped before Christmas doing a little each day so I don't end up with sore shoulders.
Hope to do some baking today so DH stops buying expensive cakes when we shop
Had a lovely roast beef yesterday and plenty left to freeze and DH had a sandwich last night.
