Help claiming compo from Emirates on missed connection from Dubai to Glasgow

Hi there,  can anyone offer advice as to what to include on my claim via email to Emirates.  In a nutshell we flew Bangkok to Dubai which was delayed on the runway for 90mins, due to a 'door' issue.  On checking in at Bangkok we were offered to spend another night in Bangkok as the plane was overbooked.  However we declined as we needed home for work. As a result of the delay we missed our connection from Dubai to Glasgow.  On arrival at Dubai we were given new tickets to fly the following morning at 3am to Amsterdam and then a lengthy delay for flight to Glasgow.  We were also given vouchers to stay at Airport hotel, which appeared to be owned by Emirates.  After a lengthy que I spoke to Emirates desk and made it clear the re-booked flight was not suitable, there were no other seats available to Glasgow for a further 2 days, which we eventually agreed to.  The hotel was to a very poor standard as was the customer service from management, several issues with room and luggage.  We also lost a considerable amount of money due to loss of earnings and additional expenses in Dubai.  I have read through the threads on this forum but cannot find anything recent or relatable.  Any advice as to how i word my email and if indeed we will be due any compensation. ?

You're not due any compensation or reimbursement under the UK or EU flight delay/cancellation regulations normally discussed on here, as these don't cover flights on non-UK/EU airlines operating to the UK/EU, just those departing from these shores.

However, you can check the relevant section of the airline's website for what it commits to in such circumstances and/or those mandated by the UAE authorities, and also check your travel insurance policy to ascertain any coverage there.

Edit: you might be able to claim for eligible damages under the Montreal Convention:
