Seller underpaid postage

Well, the seller has just informed me that they bought the postage via eBay and this was the option offered by eBay and they are waiting for eBay to get back to them, because the same problem occurred to several other items they've sold (a parcel definitely too large for a large letter is sent as a large letter). Nothing in their reply is suggesting that they appreciate they made a mistake... *sigh*

Unfortunately that is no excuse. It is the sellers responsibility to ensure items if using 3rd party eg ebay packaging that before items are sent that they have the correct postage selected.Emily_Joy said:Well, the seller has just informed me that they bought the postage via eBay and this was the option offered by eBay and they are waiting for eBay to get back to them, because the same problem occurred to several other items they've sold (a parcel definitely too large for a large letter is sent as a large letter). What a lame excuse, I would definitely be pressing for a refund. EBay don’t have their item to weigh and measure it, that’s up to the seller and eBay take the postage suggested by the selelr anyway.Emily_Joy said:Well, the seller has just informed me that they bought the postage via eBay and this was the option offered by eBay and they are waiting for eBay to get back to them, because the same problem occurred to several other items they've sold (a parcel definitely too large for a large letter is sent as a large letter). Clearly the listing is setup incorrectly, send hundreds of packages a month, if there's an error in the postage it's down to me not ebay.1 -
I have noticed if you purchase postage through the app it frequently defaults to the cheapest postage weight / price available, but shows the maximum weight as being 10kg when it should be 1kg... I wonder if the seller has 'chanced their arm' and thought no-one would notice?0

The item is a cashmere jumper. It would have been very easy to fit it into a large letter, but it was rolled into a cylinder which clearly exceeded large letter dimensions.

OT but I would like to see a jumper fit in large letter dimensionsEmily_Joy said:red_boots2 said:I have noticed if you purchase postage through the app it frequently defaults to the cheapest postage weight / price available, but shows the maximum weight as being 10kg when it should be 1kg... That’s a very good point, the large letter size is very small and I can’t see a folded jumper going anywhere near it.RedImp_2 said:

I think it's more likely with a thin cashmere jumper than a sweatshirt or bulkier knitted type, but yeah they still would probably struggle. The way they're folded in piles in Primark (as an example, I haven't been out clothes shopping for yonks) might just about squeeze through for the thickness if it's a smaller size.
But no way someone who can't even get postage options right on their listing would be careful enough to get it to fit within those dimensions!0
