Seller underpaid postage

I bought an item on eBay and it was shipped, according to the tracking provided, two weeks ago.
Last Saturday a paper note was delivered by a postman saying that there is a parcel for our address, with postage underpaid, and we should pay £3.50 for an item to be released to us. There was no tracking number on the note, so I had no idea what it was at this stage, but I just paid. The parcel arrived today and a Royal Mail note was attached to it saying that it was sent as a Large Letter but should have been sent as a small parcel, due to size/weight. The parcel contained the missing eBay item. I am a little annoyed as I paid £4 towards postage (via eBay).
Do I have any chances to get my £3.50 back?

I had a buyer very recently who experienced the same thing. The parcel was sent via RM and strangely there was a surcharge due to underpayment of postage. This is an item I send regularly to customers. The buyer took the time to send a picture of the parcel with a tape measure next to it, confirming that RM should not have had an issue with the postage paid.I immediately paid the customer the sum they had to pay. In a way they have done me a favour because the item would have returned to me had they not paid the surcharge. As a seller, I am now persuing RM for the extra charge.Hopefully you have a positive experience from here and the seller reimburses you. They can then pursue the charges from RM themselves.1

Buyer sent me this last week.
Nothing wrong with the stamp. I have used hundreds of them.

I had this recently with an item I posted which was weighed at the Post Office by their staff. Buyer contacted me and I refunded him. It isn't my fault, but I appreciate it isn't his either.
I have found RM to be more unreliable than Evri recently.0 -

This is why RM introduced barcoded stamps. I'm amazed that RM are still allowing senders to use fake stamps. No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?0 -

I would escalate this as RM ado need to be accountable for their errors.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards.
