Sky Broadband, Community Fibre or another company - advice needed please

Hi, I need some advice on which broadband service would be best for me please.
I have just finished my contract with Virgin Media and the bill has shot up to £72 p/m.
It has been really slow for months so I want to move to a faster, guaranteed speed.
I’m a VIP customer with Sky so they’ve offered me a 24 month contract for Fibre 500 for £33 p/m. This includes a broadband booster which they’re stating will guarantee the broadband speed of 470 – 500. I will keep my landline (it isn’t a problem if I have to lose it as I rarely use it), but will be charged for all calls.
I’ve also had a look at Community Fibre. They’re offering a deal for their 24 month contract on 1Gbps Premium Wi-Fi Full Fibre Broadband for £32 p/m with guaranteed whole home coverage and a broadband speed of 450 – 700.
The problem I’m having, is after looking into both companies, I’ve seen a lot of negative comments regarding Sky being very slow and not giving you the speed you’re paying for and Community Fibre, going down a lot and taking days and sometimes weeks to fix. They’ve also got bad comments regarding their customer service.
It’s confusing because they have a very good rating on Trust Pilot!
Our daily usage is as follows:
I am on the internet all day and night, playing online games, doing multiple competitions and work etc. I usually have multiple web pages open at the same time.
My husband uses the internet all evening, going on Facebook and playing online games and my daughter plays online games, and watches films and other programmes, as well as general internet usage - All 3 of us use the internet during the evening.
We also use the internet connection for our TV and Alexa etc.
Could you please recommend the best broadband for our usage that is reliable please?

For your usage 1Gb is overkill, TBH , 500Mb is probably also more bandwidth than you will need , so personally I wouldn’t let the extra download speed persuade me, it’s not going to be noticeable with what you use your broadband day to day for , is CF symmetric speeds , so same speed up as down ? , if you do some intensive uploading ( if you had a YouTube channel and uploaded content for example ) the extra upload may be useful that’s assuming the upload is also 1Gb with CF …but in essence I would be basing my choice on reputation, customer service etc , the £1 a month difference and extra download speed wouldn’t sway my decision , but as far as who to chose , that’s going to be your decision, you could take advice from Sky or CF customers reviews but your experience may be different anyway …..Sky use Openreach , a much bigger FTTP provider than CF , so potentially quicker fixes if things go wrong , but apart from that you may as well toss a coin1

Ive been on sky ultrafast plus 500 fibre since March 2024, i pay £32 a month, couldnt be happier with it.I get 523mb down and 73mb up and a ping of roughly 7ms.Not had any problems at all, before fibre was put on our road in 2024, the highest broadband speed we could get was 11mb, so a massive difference.0

just be aware that if you need to contact SKY your call will probably be handled by their team in Calcutta (INDIA)
i had the misfortune of dealing and communcation was a big issue.
Sky announced yesterday to all staff in Derby that their call centre was closing and being outsourced on India1 -
Probably very late to respond to this, however I'm with Community Fibre with the 1Gb package.
I personally really like the service, I get pretty good coverage throughout the house (with additional nodes I purchased off eBay).
The advance of Community Fibre over Sky and others is matched upload / download speed so upload will also be 1Gbps.
Customer Service is ok. I've not had a terrible experience with it, but also not had amazing service.
Given that WiFi speeds tend to be limited to around 300-500Mbps, you probably only need the 500Mbps package.Current Debt (excluding mortgage) - £7,020
