problems getting my PS3 connected wirelessly

Have just got a new PS3 40gig and have been trying to connect it to the internet. I have broadband from madasafish who supplied me with a D-Link router. I have a Wireless Network Connection set up on my computer and have went through the on screen procedures on the PS3 but when it asks me to test the connection I get a message that "connection Failed" has anyone any suggestions to fix this problem

What encryption have you set up? Try using a HEX only key e.g. BFC63E7ABDFCC5B7305CD for your WPA-PSK passphrase.

Instead of Hex encryption I would use WPA as it's easier to remember your password.
Have you set a permanent ip address for the playstation?
This might also be worth while doing.

Think that you are missing the point of using a HEX key for the WPA-PSK passphrase. Different routers can have problems when ASCII characters are encoded but never seen a problem using only HEX.

i had exactly the same problem with a 60gb ps3 on 1.51 firmware and a netgear dg834g with wpa-psk security.

upgrading the firmware to 2.10 fixed the issue for me

try this if you haven't already:

go in the router settings, click 'advanced'
tick 'dmz' making sure that the correct ip address is showing.
    click apply.

    now to go tools>system commands>save all>restart

that wont help much as the ps3 doesnt even connect to the router by the sounds of it (mine didnt connect when i had this problem)
