C1 form Confirmation

Hi, newbie here and looking for some help with completing C1 form. My dad's christian name on the will is different to that on his birth certificate and address is also different as he was in a care home when he died. Where do I include this information? Also, in the inventory do I include the monthly half share of his pension being paid to mum now?

I would honestly advise you to read through the entire "Grant of confirmation" thread first - I know the answers to the above are there. It is a long thread, but you will become much more familiar with the process if you do so.
  • I have been through the thread several times and found it to be very helpful. Have been able to fill most of it in from the answers I found in it. However I wanted to double check that different names and addresses of the deceased should go in paragraph 1 on page 2. If this is the case the box is not large enough for all this information and could do with some help with the wording.

Is the name difference an error or an alternative name by which he was known?

Do not include a surviving spouse’s pension entitlement in the inventory.

You might find some variation between court requirements but here is a suggestion:

If dad was permanently in the care home then use this address for page 1.

In para 2 of page 2 reference the will address.

If there are name differences between the will name and/or the death certificate name and/or the name on accounts etc, then use the certificate forename on page 1. In para 1 of page 2 include both names. In para 2 of page 2 reference the name alternative.

Suggestion for inclusion in para 2 of page 2: ‘In said will the said deceased is designed as residing at [will address] a former address and is named [will name], an alternatively used name’.

  • Thank you buddy9 for the advice. Will hopefully manage to get the form accepted on first submission.
  • This forum has been so informative in helping me complete the confirmation form. It took a few weeks to complete as I kept going back to it and changing things especially the wording after reading the suggestions. My form was accepted on first submission. Special thanks to buddy9. I managed to get all the information into para 2 page 2 by reducing the font and had my fingers crossed it would be ok.
  • Hi, just joined. Looking for any help specifically about gifting in relation to c1 form. Does this information go in the inventory section? How should it be written for sibling, children, myself? Do I need to justify with comments such as who for, or what the money was for? Thanks

The inventory is a statement of assets at date of death. Gifts are not listed.

Non-exempt gifts are totalled and included in the calculation to determine the value for box 23 on page 5.

    Long thread here https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/4965475/grant-of-confirmation/p92

in case you have not found.

  • Thanks buddy9 I will have a look at the thread and take a look at notes on non-exempt gifts. Might need to come back here :-) as did have a look before at notes and wasn't sure whether needed to be included or not
