Pulled over - alledged speeding

So this motorway that the OP was on had a 70mph limit.
I wonder if we'll be told which motorway and why it was 70mph.0 -

The simple fact is that it WAS a 60 limit. The OP does not dispute that.
The police officer alleged the OP was doing 74. The OP stated that they did not know what speed they were doing.
Anything other than accepting the FPN that they've received would be foolhardy, imho.5 -

20 years ago I got caught speeding on the A1, limit had dropped to 50 from 70 mph.
What could I say, banged to rights.
Got summoned to St Neots court.
Now the things that got my back up were the police lied, plus the court losing the documents they requested and I sent.
The officer stood up in court and said I was doing 78 mph.
I defended myself, I asked was he sure of the speed and had he checked his notes.
He confirmed both.
I asked then why my ticket he filled out there and then for 70 mph.
This was very important as 3 times the limit is normally a ban.
His reply was I must have made a mistake on the ticket, I asked then or now ?.
The judge did not even care, what a surprise.
I got 6 points rather than a Ban, so maybe it helped.
Then came the fine, £1200, plus £285 court costs.
How would I like to pay.
I said I can’t pay that much as I only earn 6.5k a year.
That’s near 25% of everything I earn.
Judge said as you did not send proof of earnings that’s the fine on average earning.
So all the paperwork I had sent regarding earnings had gone missing, what a joke.
I could see the staple mark on the bailiffs documents where it had been removed.
I said would you like the copies I have in my pocket, showing my last 3 year self employment.
Fine reduced to £120, £30 costs.
Lesson learned.
Now I have a dash cam, front and back with my reg, date, time and speed.
Plus I record every interaction on my phone, ( paranoid I know ).

If the limit was 60 (a variable) and you were doing 70 (normal motorway speed) then there’s no point challenging it. There is no difference penalty wise between doing 70 in a 60 and being accused of 74 (presumably) instead. He’ll have to put a number to it and that’s on his dashcam.
Do you believe you were below 60mph, or that there was no 60mph signage? There seem to be too many cases of variable tickets - and people are trapped because the police don’t have to prove there was one until court. It will be expensive if someone did indeed miss a sign that may have popped up a second before, so they end up taking the course/points when they might have been innocent.
Could you pick out anything about the car on the dashcam that would suggest it wasn’t your car? Colour, shape?0 -

Many years ago I got stopped for going 84 on a motorway (70), took it on the chin and learnt to be more observant.
