Pulled over - alledged speeding

Hi,

Hoping someone can help as most fines seem to be by getting caught by speed cameras or radar etc.
A couple of weeks ago I was stopped by a police officer who claimed I was speeding on the motorway.
He showed me dash cam footage and said, that's you in the distance, you can just see your tail lights. He said he was doing 74mpb and didn't close the gap and that was his proof I was speeding. The dash cam then stops so doesn't continue until he catches me and pulls me to show it was my car.
You couldn't make out my number plate or even the make of the car. He followed me for 1 short junction then I left the motorway and he pulled me after that.
He cautioned me at the roadside.
I have now been given a speeding ticket for exceeding the limit of 60mph by 'manned equipment'. There is no mention of the speed the officer claimed I was doing.
Where do I stand with all this?
No number plate
No accurate speed gun
No speed stated on the letter
And does dash cam constitute manned equipment?

Sorry for all the questions.
Not normally one to speed. Never been done in over 20 years.
Not even convinced I was speeding but too afraid to challenge it.

Please help, thank you.

Yes, it was manned. The police officer was in the car with it.

If and when you get an offer of a course or fixed penalty, you have a choice - accept it, or refuse it and opt for court, where you can dispute the officer's testimony.

What's your defence? "I don't know what speed I was doing, or whether it was over 60 or not"...?

What is this "ticket" you have been given?

Who gave it to you and what does it say?

If he didn’t close the gap and he was doing 74mph then you must have been doing 74mph

I understand the police have to record you for half a mile to prove your speed with the in car camera records

If he pulled you over he obviously got your number

Be foolish too. As would be considered as driving without due care and attention. Be a huge black mark on your insurance record.

The dash cam footage will confirm the speed the police car was travelling at.

My defense is that I was not exceeding the speed limit and the dash cam he showed me coukd have been any car as it was unidentifiable. The officer even said 'you can just about see your tail lights'.
It records for a short time then cuts off probably because the car is not in his sight any more. I turn off at the junction where I presume he has broken the speed limit himself in order to 'catch' me, if it was indeed me in the first place. He then follows me for a bit longer but no further allegations of speeding except the bit on the motorway which you can't definitively prove it's me as it's too far away.

It's the letter stating I have exceeded the limit with the fine and points.

He followed A car and didn't close the gap. You can't see the make or model or number plate and then the recording stops. I would presume it should record all the way up to him catching me up and pulling me over, thereby identifying the car in the distance as being mine.

So you've already been offered a fixed penalty? That's quick, if you were only stopped a fortnight ago.

All the paperwork you have tells you what your options are and how to respond. If you want the FP, follow it TO THE LETTER.

You said you didn't know. He has video.
and the dash cam he showed me coukd have been any car as it was unidentifiable.
It will be a lot higher resolution and clearer than it was on the small screen in the car.
The officer even said 'you can just about see your tail lights'.

If you think his evidence is flawed, then refuse the fixed penalty, and defend the case in court.
