Options when flights are rescheduled

I was recently made aware that the flights of a holiday I had booked for September 2025 had been changed, both significantly with one being an entirely different day. Both easyJet. When managing my booking online, I wasn’t aware that you couldn’t claim a refund for one flight and change the other, until I tried to change one at a time, clicking to seeks refund for one before managing the other. Whilst claiming the refund, the system has accepted the flight amendment for the other, meaning the ability to claim a refund disappeared. I contacted easyJet immediately and they said they’d put a note on my booking in the “hope” that when the refund for the one flight is processed, they might refund the other.
does anyone know where I stand with this please, as I’m no left with a flight that is completely useless and not needed. FYI, the flight was move from 9am to 9:30 pm, no good for travelling with very small children.
