    @badmemory, I found Quordle…6,5,8,7 today which I didn’t think was too bad for a first go. Thanks, I shall enjoy playing this game daily too, keep the old mind young 😀

    There is also octordle in 3 different versions.  It keeps me out of mischief.  I use 3 basic words that use all the vowels.  I did once get wordle in 2.  Pure luck as it was one of my 3 words.  As that uses 15 letters it does give me (normally) a very good chance of getting it in 4.

    Light mornings are so beautiful! What a contrast to just last week.

    That said, it’s cold! Brrrrr… it’s not cold enough for the heating to kick in (DH sets it to come on if the temp drops due to DS and doggo). Usually I’d be up and running around but this morning I woke at half 5 and listened to my audiobook for a bit, then I’ve made a coffee and jumped back under the covers, I’ve done wordle (3) and started Quordle but realised I haven’t woken up properly yet so will come back to that at lunch time.

    Weigh in will be daily and then I’ll take a weekly average (this is the fairest way to do it apparently as there’s many fluctuating factors) so -0.2lbs this morning. I think weighing daily will also ensure I don’t get disheartened if the weight is up as I know it will fluctuate. I’m going to trial and see how I goes - I felt the psychological effects of doing a slimming club, and adopting very poor routine and habits) about 14 years ago (when I was slim and only needed to lose a few lbs) and it took me a long time to reverse behaviours so I want to ensure that this is done properly, counting calories, no restrictions in terms of what food I’m eating etc.

    Today’s meals;
    porridge, chia, flax, honey, apple
    avocado, slice of toast, salad, 2 boiled eggs
    dinner will be chicken wraps or meatball sub (bread dependent)
    treat will be a small 100 cal chocolate bar with a cup of tea before bed

    I also made my own bread mix last night and left to proof (I think that’s the right word). I’ve never made bread before but all the talk of it on here has inspired me.  I did ask for a recipe and advice a few weeks ago, so thank you, and today will be the test as to if I can manage it 😂. Good start as the mixture has risen, so I am going to make some sub rolls / baguette shaped rolls for dinner… I’ll report back later as to the results 😀

    Today is a mixed day with some meetings and some urgent tasks that need to be completed (I’m the biggest procrastinator but yet still manage to produce excellent results at work, doesn’t help the anxiety though building up to doing the task). In line with @PennysIntoPounds get stuff done, I am also going to tackle the following;

    * one wash - done
    * empty dishwasher - done
    * changing energy supplier (relative who I support, BG have closed their account with no forewarning and for no reason but have done nothing to address - and the relative is vulnerable)
    * 3x work to dos
    * make bread
    * put dry washing away (I can do numerous wash loads in a day but it takes 12-14 business days to put away in this house - it’s all contained in the utility room so out of sight out of mind until someone runs out of underwear 😂) - done

    Have a good day all,
    Wendy x

    Michael Mosley advises regular weigh-ins every day or two in the 8WBSD. He said it incentivises you to see the impact of some foods and when you start being fed up, you can reflect on how quickly you are losing the weight and it spurs you on for the remaining weeks. It is based on Professor Roy Taylor's research into reversing T2D but it works great for FFF-somethings - I did it in 2016 and I have kept most of that weight off. Where I have back-slid is my sweet tooth. I found the main benefit of that first 8-weeks was the very low sugar - only fruits that grow here in the UK, nothing tropical and no sugar or sweeteners added. It retrained my taste buds so most things tasted too sweet afterwards, making the Mediterranean diet recommended for follow-up a cinch to follow (and continue losing). It also meant that when I read about artificial sweeteners retraining your brain to expect ever more sweet and salty food, it made perfect sense.

    Anyway, we all find our own way (or not) with losing weight. Understanding why we put it on is probably the biggest thing. A bit like shopping - know your weaknesses!

    @Suffolk_lass, that’s sounds great, will look into that as I know who Michael Mosley is but haven’t heard about that.

    I do know why I put weight on…. I love food, and sit on my bum most of the day due to the job I have. I’ve been around the same weight now since lockdown so do need to take some action. As I’ve been maintaining, I know that once it’s off it should stay off (like it did before lockdown). I actually lose weight when I go on holiday as I move more, and eat more healthy foods as it’s there prepared for me. I have got into a good routine over the last couple of months with meal prepping, I do need to reduce my portions though. I’ve lost 4.2lbs since I started this diary so it’s working, I just need to up my movement more too (though easier said than done with my muscle injury atm)

    Daily weighing hopeless for me. When i've tried it, it's led to obsessing about the numbers. Not keen on weekly either because of fluctuations, esp back when I was still at the mercy of monthly cycle. My preference is an initial weigh-in, then another after the 1st week. After that, I like to choose dates at least 10 days or 2 or 3 weeks apart & write them in my diary. This approach works well for me (well, it does when there's actually any dieting going on!) but we're all different & ultimately need to choose whichever method we find most motivating/helpful.

    Wooh.. busy couple of days in the office - what a week.  Only a couple of meetings this morning so I now have the rest of the day to catch up on tasks, emails, actions etc.

    Good week in terms of spending, I'll be updating the budget later or tomorrow so we stay on track.  Quiet weekend planned, just what is needed after a busy week.

    Solved Wordle in 6 this morning... very close! I'm tending to do Wordle when I first wake to help me wake up, and stay off SM and emails.

    Hope everyone is ok and having a great week?
