Proud of you buddy, we'd all be right chuffed to find an owner-less twenty quid in the street yet it's so easy to disregard our own money we actually earned!4

@PennysIntoPounds, thank you ☺️
Yes, it is so easy but now I’m kicking myself for the many years of wasting our hard earned money. But that was a previous year and a previous version of us xMortgage (MFD 04/2053) (Jan 25) £238,983.71. Overpayment set to £200 per month. Current: £236,171.58

Oh please don't. We all have things we would time travel back and change if we could but you can waste a lot of negative emotional energy looking back with regret. I love the way you are clearly taking joy from the positive energy of your current choices.

@redofromstart, oh I am loving our new ways of living.... we are still living and enjoying the money we are earning (more so now it is in a controlled manner) but totally invested in giving ourselves the best future
Another financial update... the car dealership that our car contract is through keeps ringing me. I've told them that we are looking to pay off the balloon payment at the end and will then use the car for as long as it will last us (we bought new so know where it has been, how it has been treated etc)... I am now ignoring the calls (as soon as the balloon payment is made at the end of the year, I will also be blocking the number.Mortgage (MFD 04/2053) (Jan 25) £238,983.71. Another long and busy day at work (at least the days are flying by) 😀
Nothing really to report today. I was in the office today and treated myself to a packet of crisps and a can of pop in the afternoon. All other meals and snacks were homemade. Taken from personal spend budget but really do need to kick this habit into touch as I didn’t need either of them, and I need to lose weight too.Going to have an earlier night tonight after a couple of later nights - half term completely throws routine out. There’s no better feeling, after a long day, than getting into bed and wrapping the duvet round you to warm up. Incredibly lucky to have heating and a roof over our heads, especially with the sound of the rain and wind outside.Sending positive vibes,

Up early this morning but that will be from falling asleep at half 9 last night, feeling much more rested today 😀Dishwasher emptied, washing machine on, coffee made, doggo fed and now a little chill out before starting work. Only a few meetings today, and none tomorrow (which is unknown of) so I am determined to get many of my actions done before the weekend so that I can relax. I had a lot of deadlines and inputs that were out of my control at the end of last week, that I couldn’t finish until Monday this week, so need to learn to switch off and forget about them. I’m a worrier, can you tell?
It will be a spend day today as DH is now on leave with DS for the last two days of the half term, which DS is happy about. I put more in the entertainment pot this month knowing this so they are going to spend some of that on an afternoon out, likely to be playing snooker or pool as that is a shared interest, and it’s certainly too wet and cold here to go out to play football.
Anyway, off to read a bit and then power through the day.Have a good day all,

I must admit I tend to think about work tasks when I'm not at work too. I often wake up thinking of a solution to an issue I've had the day before.
Have you got a locker in the office you could keep a can of diet pop and a low calorie bag of crisps such as French Fries brought in from home so you avoid the temptation of impulse buying and you keep the calories as low as possible. Pop and crisps are so expensive if you buy them from work canteens or singly from shops.
Have a great day.I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)3 -
Thanks for popping by @Sun_Addict. I only work in the office 5/6 times a month so I really have no excuse to buy these items as I have crisps at home and I can surely do without a can of pop when I take my coffee cup and also a flask of water with me (we have fresh water at work). There was a time when we were buying the multipacks of fizzy pop cans from the warehouse of food, at £8/£10 a case of 24 but we went through them all so quickly that we had to stop buying them. I guess that was before our LBM so perhaps we could buy a case again and keep them out of the fridge (or hide them from DH), then I would only pop one in the fridge if I was taking one to work.... will think on that.
Quick money update... DH received an award through work and opted to get Sports Direct vouchers as he is forever buying sports wear. He was also in desperate need of some new socks and Santa forgot to bring some lol... he opted for what he thought were black socks, pack of 5 socks x4 for £13 (bargain) but when they have arrived there was 1 pack of black socks, 1 pack of light grey socks and 2 packs of mixed black, blue and light grey. He will only wear black (the grey socks look like they are off-white so don't look the best, and he is wearing these for work). I've just gone to try and return them to see that there is a return postage charge... the old me would have just sent them back and forfeited the postage costs... new me has contacted SD directly and advised that whilst the option was actually 'Dark assorted', light grey did not fall into that category. The advisor was very pleasant and advised we can keep the 3 packs of socks and he will send 3 packs of black socks as replacements.
Small wins like this will move us forward so quickly as we aren't wasting money, even though this was in relation to vouchers award I now see this as our cash too, whereas before I didn't (plus the local charity will benefit from 11 pairs of new socks in blue and light grey colour!)Mortgage (MFD 04/2053) (Jan 25) £238,983.71. Wow.... I've had my water bill through for this year... £15pm increase! We've used less since the last quarter (pay by DD) but still a massive increase to our bill.
I have instilled new habits in our home over the last few weeks, which I know will not really be shown in our usage and bill until later this year but I am assuming the standing charges have increaseMortgage (MFD 04/2053) (Jan 25) £238,983.71. Overpayment set to £200 per month. Current: £236,171.58

Friday again, so soon!
Today is a busy day, no meetings planned so going to try and get through as much of my work to do list as possible, to make next week a little easier.I’ve woke up this morning quite tired (it’s been a busy few weeks and I think it’s catching up) and I’ve started to sneeze, hoping it doesn’t come to anything as a lot of people I know have been ill recently. I realise I haven’t drunk much water for weeks so going to aim for 6 pints of water today whilst working. I also realise that I’ve been drinking a little too much wine with meals out for work (all on expenses as manager pays for the team when we are out, and not excessive, but I wouldn’t normally drink during the week at home). I do have an evening out on Saturday planned, nothing too big, just a couple of friends and I in the local pub for a long, overdue catch up but it will involve a couple of glasses of wine. I’m going to make a conscious effort to cut down on alcohol (easier as there’s no travel with work for a few weeks now) and I’m also planning a self care day on Sunday once we've watched DS play football in the AM.Nothing financial to note, still reeling from the new water bill…we had a quick family chat yesterday and have vowed to reduce usage further where possible
Time for a shower and hair to freshen up and attack the day.Have a great day all,
