Back to the question of how to get online. The 40 gig model is wifi capable (I got one for crimbo too,
) so if you have a wireless router you'll be good to go with a bit of fiddling with settings. Or just plug the ethernet cable into the router.
I use wireless.
If you connect to the internet via a usb modem then your options are more limited. But even then it's not impossible. Just look up internet connection sharing. I found in the past that it works well under xp. Never used vista so can't say anything about that.
Good luck and I know he'll have fun.
Just finished Ratchet and Clank for the second time, fantastic game.

what you have to think about is will you still have the tv in say 10-15 years as there is no broadcatsing in 1080p until 2020 I shouldn't think....:Dvery little difference between 720p/1080i anyway...are going to have sky hd that sort of thing really...:DIn a country well governed, poverty is something to be ashamed of.

Im not aware of any games that use the full 1080p. but 720p same as the xbox, I think its only bluray dvds that will give the full output.Things that are free in life are great, well most of the time :beer:0

Dickibobboy - there are already several games that play at 1080p on the PS3. Virtua Tennis 3, Super Stardust, and several others. I've played several and own a few - check this list
SantaClaus - as i said on my other thread, the TV is mainly used for PS3 so no broadcasts at 1080p aren't really an issue. I have several BluRay movies too so the 1080p would defintely be used.

when you say xbox do you mean the 360? if yes then many if not all 360 games go up to 1080. some just do 1080i and some do both 1080i and 1080p. it was very surprising to hear that alot of ps3 games only go to 720p.0
