Faster Payment I messed up.

Tried buying tickets from someone on twitter! Sent money via faster payment then got blocked.
silly mistake £130 down do I have any right to claim back?
I have senders name and account details as well as transcript.
spoke to my bank Santander who told me couldn’t help was actually quite rude.
100% was a stupid thing to do but I thought there was protection now in place and I may be able to claim money back?

You'd need to convince Santander that it was a scam, and they may deduct a £100 excess if they agree to refund:

There are some voluntary codes which most high street banks signed up to, but they usually get round by putting in an automated message about knowing the person you are sending money to as payments can't be reclaimed.2 -

What would the basis of your claim be? In my experience Santander have one of the strictest set of warning when making a payment, and even more so when setting up a new payee, so if you went ahead despite seeing all those warnings I'm not sure what else they could have done to protect you from yourself. Now, for £130 they may just make a goodwill payment of some or all of the amount rather than bear the cost of a FOS investigation, but I can't see that they should have any liability.PS As you have the payees name and address why not just make a claim for the return of your money?3

To be blunt it's this sort of madness that actually makes you feel sorry for the banks that may have to reimburse such crazy behaviour.
How many warning messages did you bypass before the money was sent?17 -
Not sure how easy it will be to get the bank transfer refunded. Contact the seller and tell them you will start a small claims against them.1

Frankly at this point I would be complaining about rude customer service. There's no proper excuse for it.
(I do know that people in call centres are subject to substantial abuse by angry customers and shouldn't have to put up with that. And as a result some will snap. But also I really do know some people should never be allowed to work in call centres as they have absolutely no manners or other social skills.)I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on Debt Free Wannabe and Old Style Money Saving boards. Not sure the police would be interested but I would try if only to give the scumbag a scare. The police would also give you a crime reference number I assume. I think it's still a crime to steal from someone the last I looked.Getting back to your bank may help but don't blame them it's the fault of the scumbag and you of course.Horrible situation but maybe an incredibly cheap lesson.2
