Car for an Oldie with arthritis

Many ordinary cars have a high "lip" on the boot (if that is the correct terminology), which makes lifting heavy items in/out difficult. Some 4x4 cars have a flat loading area into the boot space, my old Jeep Cherokee was like that if my memory serves me correctly. My current Seat Leon is a pain the back when lifting heavy suitcases in/out of the boot. It's not just the height of the seat, check how easy it is to load/unload the boot area.0

Thanks for the thoughts. I hadn’t thought of Mercedes so will have a look if those are in my price range etc.UniDebtStudent said:Berlingo is a good option and practical but it does feel like you're driving a small van (at least it did to me). Honda Jazz is as reliable as you're used to but may be on the smaller size for your needs, or a used Mercedes B-Class, they have very comfortable seats, easy to drive and has a high (enough) road position. If you're open to small SUVs/Crossovers, then there's plenty on the market in your budget too.0 -
Thanks Jimbo. I’d been wondering about a Vitara, so will research those. Thanks for replyingjimbo6977 said:I seem to remember the standard Honest John Saturday Telegraph answer to this question was a Suzuki Vitara. Auto trader has a ton of them in your price bracket.0 -
Yes, normally I’d agree with you but as I mentioned my arthritis lets me down with walking very far at all so I wanted to target certain car makes and go to those. Thanks very much.born_again said:TBH.
Go rounds lots of garages & sit in as many cars as possible.0 -
That’s good to know, thanks. Perhaps lower seats are a thing either Honda. Like my last car an AccordBonniepurple said:
I’m thinking of replacing my Jazz because it is difficult for me to get out of as it’s low down.UniDebtStudent said:Berlingo is a good option and practical but it does feel like you're driving a small van (at least it did to me).
