Charged £3999.00 to exit our timeshare obligations by ECC and have had no outcome other than excuses that the task can not be completed. Have contacted them on numerous occasions for an explanation and no replies

Just wanted to say a big thank you to you all. I was just about to embark on an expensive journey with ECC to relinquish a timeshare contract, until I fortuitously spotted this thread. I have cancelled my commitment with them now. Interestingly I was told on the departing phone call that they offer a reduced payment upfront and the rest on completion. Still a very large amount. I just wonder why they did not mention that at the outset.
In any case I am still left with the timeshare (Karma). Are there other agencies people have used that are reliable who can help me get out of this contract?

ECC does appear to be a scam which we have fallen for with thousands paid for four months to the questionairre to the lawyers, Pinder Reaux who have done nothing since june not even respond to pleas to contact us. Customers pay ECC for Pinder Reaux lawyers but don't get anything from the lawyers. seven months plus the money. we can only relate our experience thus far. Exploitation of people in trouble appears to be happening in my opinion0

If you have paid money to a firm of solicitors who are failing to respond to you, did they ever acknowledge they were acting on your behalf as you should have received a full explanation of what they would do and their costs at the very start, then you should make a formal complaint to the Solicitors Regulation Authority.
My concern is that ECC may never have instructed them in the first place and simply taken your money for themselves. For anyone else, if someone recommends a firm of solicitors, only make payments direct to them, on receipt of a valid invoice, and that should guarantee your protection.0
