for getting e-mails? i have a k850i on 02 with 200mb of useage a month, is it possible to get e-mails say sent to a gmail account to instantly appear on a phone?

you might have to pay extra for PUSH email however with your operator.

There's a wonderful service called emoze that is a free push service. Seriously useful bit of software!
