This is the ads both nearly new with delivery mileage and same spec
There is only £1,700 difference between those two though.

Not insubstantial but a long way short of £3,000.

I can only see £1700 between the prices, and they're the same picture - same car?

They state "This vehicle may have been advertised at the higher price for less than 28 days, but for a minimum of 10 days."

    It costs £43,450 new.
    It was £32,998
And now has an additional £3000 saving, so now costs "From £29,998".

For some reason they have advertised one at £31,698, but there could be some options or other add on's worked into that price or it was a stepping stone before the lower price of £29,998.

    Read the full advert here.
Nearly New smart Cars for sale in the UK | Arnold Clark

You need to speak to them.
Worse case is you forget the £99 deposit on the more expensive offer and buy the cheaper offer.
Then it would cost £30,097 or £2901 less than one recently advertised and £1601 less than the car you originally agreed to hold.
Compared to £43,450, you're still quids in.

I would imagine for the sake of £99 against a sale of around £30,000 plus the interest kick back from the finance company, they will just move the deposit to the cheaper offer if you sign on the dotted line.

As stated - these are stock photos - which means only one thing.  It's not 2 cars we're talking about it might be 200 - all with different specs including metallic / wheel options and all with different registration dates - 2024/74 will mean the car was pre-registered anywhere from 1st September 2024 (probably 30/09/24 to meet a target!) to 31st December 2024.  Some might have covered 10,000 miles as a demonstrator, others will have 3 miles on the clock.

The examples given are also different dealers - who will have different deals to offer depending on the local market.  Not unusual for there to be £,000s difference at different ends of the country for the same car at the same dealer group.

Pre reg in September 2024 and they are struggling to shift them.

Are you set on a wee car?  You could get a Polestar pre-reg for ~£34k.

On the plus side, the deposit with Arnold Clark is refundable and they are pretty good with it. If you'd paid extra to get the car moved to a more local site, then you wouldn't get that back unless the car was defective.

What's the actual difference between the cars? Is it just mileage or are they different spec?

Just buy the cheaper one and give up the deposit.

Whatever you do, make sure you get it registered in your name & taxed before the end of March or it will cost another £195 to tax it.

    Have you driven one?
