DWP have had my PIP form for a year now

Options
I've got a condition that doesn't get better and the last two renewals I did I had to go to tribunal where I won both times.

I've been getting text messages that they 'still have my form and will be progressing my review as soon as they can' since January 2024. I've been in limbo since as I need to save money in case they deny it and I have to go to tribunal again, which I think took about a year last time which is a long time to go without that much money.

I know they're prioritising new applicants but has anyone else been waiting this long? I don't want to rock the boat but it's been weighing on my mind this whole time. I always copy the forms in case they lose them, but the text messages assure me they still have it so I have no idea what to do besides wait.

It is along time but perhaps more important is continuity of claim and payment.... have they extended your award for a year.. normally it is done around a month (35 days - with letter received some days later) before award being reviewed is due to end... I don't know if a tribunal award affects such but it shouldn't.

Sadly there are big delays... a year does seem excessive but not unusual while the texts as you say place the ball in their court.

Yes. Several posts on the delay of around a year.

As a glimmer of hope for you. We now have had a text to say that we have a phone assessment next week. So that is approx a year after sending forms back.

Many people are waiting that long. It was about 11 months for me.

Can I ask please, if the award does subsequently change after the review has been completed, does the change come into effect from when the decision is made or is it backdated to when the form was submitted please?
Particularly thinking about if the award is reduced.
     Thanks.

New decision replaces the current one (including if relevant an extension to award due to delays in assessments). Backdating would only be consideration if review triggered regarding reported changed disabilities.

Thanks everyone, it's helped put me a bit more at ease knowing others are waiting as long.

Mine is also coming up to 11 months.  I'm trying not to think about it for various reasons though, and worrying about it won't change anything except make my own life worse and drain energy I don't have.  Easier said than done though!  (And that's even with being in the fortunate position of not depending on my PIP to keep a roof over my head or food in my belly.)

This isn't always the case and for me it definitely wasn't. I didn't report any changes that prompted my review and it was started as a normal review by DWP. I did report my conditions had got worse when I filled out the form.

I received my forms in November 2023 and the decision was made on 15th October 2024. My award increased from Standard/Enhanced to Enhanced for both parts. It was awarded from 28th November 2023 and I received a lump sum for difference between both awards for the whole of that period.

It really does depend on the decision maker, some are awarded from an earlier time and others from the date the decision is made.

Fair point... and certainly seen in cases.
