Virgin Broadband - current contract expires after new customer offer deadline

My 18 month deal is ending on 2 Feb. Looking on Moneysupermarket, there's currently a deal for the same service for new customers for £23.50 but the offer is going to end this Thur (16/01). I'm still under contract (until 2 Feb) so I can't sign up for this offer. I'm wondering if I give notice to cancel my current service and then sign up for the new offer under my wife's name and somehow get them to commence the new contract on, say, 3 Feb. Under the FAQs, there is a question - "When does my contract start?" which is answered with "Your contract starts from the day you have your services installed, either by one of our technicians or when you plug in our self-install kit." So in theory I can order the self-install kit, but as long as I don't plug it in before 2 Feb, my new contract doesn't start (is the way I read it). The alternative is to arrange for an engineer visit (£30) for 3 Feb so my contract can only start when the 'new' service is connected. Any anyone had any experience in doing something like this?

Your contract doesn't end, your minimum commited term ends and you go onto a rolling monthly contract without the discount unless you sign up to a new minimum term.

For most ISPs in order to be considered a new customer there must be at least a 30 day break between a cancellation being in effect (so after the notice period and service ended) and the new service starting.

Unless there is that break you are an existing customer and not a new customer
