Your question was how can I haggle with Virgin , I’ll give you a recent real world example,
a friend of mine , Virgin customer for over 20 years paying £100+ for TV and broadband, his son moves into a nearby house and signs up with Virgin , same TV package and faster broadband than my friend, and pays a new customer price of £65.
My friend ( outside any minimum term ) calls Virgin to reduce his costs , and is offered £85 , ‘not good enough’ he says , ‘why not £65’ they say can’t be done , OK he says , I’ll find a new provider , consider this my notice to quit …..he starts looking but the speeds on Openreach are much slower , no FTTP is available……after a week or so Virgin call , ‘don’t leave’ they say and they offer £75 ‘best and final offer’ and that was with a lesser TV package , he reluctantly accepts, as the broadband alternative wasn't really good enough for his needs , but is still paying £10 more than his son , but is paying £25 less than he was, he decided it was good enough to accept, you will have to ask Virgin for their best price and then decide if it’s acceptable , it won’t matter if Sky can be cheaper if you are not prepared to wait or have the work done to get Sky installed
thanks for the post that now finally makes sense to me, think she is too old to change now, but will bear it in mind. thanks again, if only sky had made that clear and maybe even suggested it, too much to ask for?
