I am totally with you about finding things to wash @1stTimer ! I find myself going around the house looking for stray cups and stuff all day now. 🤣 Glad you are enjoying yours too!

Added bonuses from having the dishwasher installed is I can now take down my dog gate which was there to prevent little dog swiping stuff off the counter, and, BEST of all, dd2 has been preparing food in the kitchen again rather than asking for takeaways! 🎉 I totally should have bought one sooner. 😁

Takeaways purchased since getting dishwasher = 0! Clean and clear worktop = all day, everyday! Crockery broken by little dog = 0! 🎉
The novelty will wear off at some point I am sure, but not quite yet.

Now that I am feeling better I thought I would have another go at solving the robot hoover issue too. Way back in February I was fairly confident it had died as the hoover itself was telling me to contact customer services, which I did, but they wanted a video and I never got as far as doing it as I was getting more and more ill. Well, now I am feeling better, I thought I’d charge it back up and see if there was any way of getting a replacement. No need! Somehow, the darn thing has fixed itself! For 20weeks that thing has been sitting there just gathering dust whilst we have been going around it with the big hoover! Doh! 🤦‍♀️ Anyway, robot hoover is now back in action too and I couldn’t be happier. 😁

When I tell her about the robot, dd2 is likely to feel a bit like her jobs are being taken over by machines again, but no harm in continuing to pay her to give it a proper go with the big hoover once a week, at least until she gets a proper job. I know she genuinely needs some new clothes for going back to college in September so it’s either pay her to do some jobs, or just end up giving her some money anyway. At least this way she has had to earn it.

My robovac got clogged up with dust so I gave it a thorough clean, only to find that there was a ball of dust inside the home- base.

It could be worth your while hoovering out the base as well as the dustbag and brushes.

I love my robovac, although it does try to sneak under the TV table and gobble the wires!
What would you get if all you got was what you were thankful for?

Ok, so not only did dd2 still not ask for a takeaway but she actually ventured to Aldi to buy food, came back and rather successfully recreated a Mc Muffin! I didn’t even have to say anything. 😁

    You're training them well.
Maybe find another small treat to replace takeaways

I’m not so sure about ‘training them well’ today. I just had a massive fall out with dd1 and she has now left the building (no idea if she intends to come back). 😞

We very rarely argue in this house, in fact I cannot recall the last time I raised my voice, but I am exhausted from going back to work and I lost my cool. Apparently, I have been ignoring her for days and haven’t been considering her feelings. I have been tired and generally not very chatty to anyone (going back to work is taking it out of me), but I definitely have not been treating her any differently. I got angry when she suggested I never do anything for her when we were literally in the middle of me taking her to practice her driving. I suggested we go home as she was clearly tired (she kept going in the wrong lane which she never normally does but apparently that was all my fault - there were a few close calls so I thought safer to get off the road and try again tomorrow). So she seethed all the way home and then on exiting the vehicle, exploded, telling me how horrible I am for not considering how my actions all week (my being less chatty), was impacting her mental health. Apparently me agreeing to go out to help her practice driving despite feeling so tired I just needed to be back in bed, didn’t count as me caring. Cue, me telling her how ungrateful she was being at a very loud volume. 😬 I did start calmly I promise, but after 5 times of repeating the same explanation about me being tired and how me not being chatty was not actually a reflection of how much I cared, I ran out of patience and energy and resorted to shouting. Did I mention how tired I am?

Her test is with me, on Monday, in my car. 😕

She has come back. She didn’t even look at me and just went straight to her room. At least I know she is safe though. 👍

Time for bed. Start again tomorrow.

  • She’s safe and there’s space between the two of you. Let it sit for a while and she’ll come round. She’s probably just getting anxious
