I am a bit concerned with regards to the electrics, just switching stuff off might not stop everything going up in flames and I think you need to have someone check that it is safe in current state while looking at a longer term fix.2
-
Please forgive my extremely blunt comment - but please stop paying your cc debts & sort your electrics, they are much more important.4

does your current employment give access to a welfare fund? if so, maybe get in touch and get the electrics sorted. my thought on reading was that you may have been impacted by fumesMortgage at 01.01.14 £119,481.83:eek: today £0 Emergency fund £5.5/5.5k & £200/200 cash.:jWeight 24/02/19 14st 7lb now 12st 1lb determined to stop defining myself by my mistakes. Oh my goodness, you don't do things by halves! I'm relieved you are home again but how shocking... you may or may not be able to work out why you fell (I had a bad fall once and remember parts of it but only made sense of certain injuries after a while and thoughtful comments from friends).
I hope you have more painkillers and some sort of follow-up plan. Stick to the sofa till you feel able to mobilise normally. The NHS provided a small bed rail, anchored by the mattress, for me, as I couldn't get out of bed alone due to a breakage and crush injuries: it gave me a lot more independence. I was able to send it back after a short while. So I'd recommend enquiring about what's available if you turn out to need it (you may not).
I hope you've been able to catch up on rest today.I think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. (Cranky40)

I'd second Heatherweed's suggestion - we use them in our bathroom so that the main light doesn't have to be switched on. They're not particularly expensive, and only need charging about once a month. Having one on the bathroom wall in use, and one charged in a drawer (so the light isn't being triggered) could be the answer.

Thanks all.I’ve still been well out of it today. Still in pain but not feeling sick every time I move so that is an improvement. The biggest challenge has been caring for the dogs. dd2 has been caring for them since the fall but they are a right handful and even more-so when they haven’t seen me. Both girls are shattered so I am now sat on the sofa protecting my hip and dd1 has helped by letting Little Dog come down for some 1on1 time with me. When on her own little Dog is a dream as she never wants to jump up and just potters around chewing her chews or fetching me her toys for a head rub. Big Dog knows he is being left out however, and hasn’t stopped barking for the past half an hour. We are going to swop them over now but I am bracing myself as I know he is likely to launch on me to give me cuddles as he hasn’t seen me for 24hours.Wish me luck!End ofSep-25Oct-25

how are you feeling today EB? Hope the pain is subsiding and that Big Dog wasn’t too rambunctious! x

Pain is easing, thanks @SuzeQStan
I’m now back to looking after both dogs together but being very careful to protect my hip in the process. Thankfully Big Dog seems to have got the memo and is winking in more carefully. He gets very worried if I don’t let him have his morning cuddle so we just needed to find a way to do protect my hip in the process and I think I have found the sweet spot. Both dogs are lovely in so many ways but they are the most anxious dogs I have ever owned. As I type Big Dog is standing half way in the back door trying to find the confidence to put his back two paws in the door! 🤦♀️ I know it’s because the floor is laminate there and he will be fine once he has reached the carpet (two steps inside the door) but despite having walked in and out the door all his life, this is now his new thing to be scared of. 🤷♀️ The pair of them are total wusses.
Things to do today includes:- Going to lunch with my bestie from work (who is both driving me there and back, plus paying for me, bless her)
- Picking up a few essentials from Tesco
- Making sure I have enough money in the correct accounts for the direct debits due to leave on the 1st
- Finding the number to request the PIP application form (I have been rather distracted so haven’t done this yet)
- Putting new sheets on my bed
