Solicitor fees and Inheritance tax.

Does anyone know if solicitor fees are taken into consideration and payed before or after inheritance tax is calculated? Obviously in an ideal world the solicitor is payed before to minimise the inheritance tax bill.

    No, you can’t deduct solicitors fees to reduce IHT.

    You don't normally pay stamp duty on a property you inherit.
    Googling on your question might have been both quicker and easier, if you're only after simple facts rather than opinions!  
  • Sorry not stamp duty, I meant inheritance tax. Been a long day, many thanks for your replies.
