HSBC Premier changes

No, I have no intention of trying to meet the requirements. I've had the account ever since Premier was launched when they badgered me to sign up. I moved most of my money out of HSBC to a new home about 5 years ago so haven't met the criteria since then. My post was a heads up for anyone who hasn't yet received the email.TheMod1 said:Swipe said:It looks like HSBC are finally getting around to removing Premier from ineligible customers. Can't say I've ever made much use of the benefits so I'll let it go. I've just received this email:We’re writing to remind you of the changes to the eligibility criteria for HSBC Premier. To keep your Premier benefits, you’ll need to act soon and make sure you:• have an individual annual income of at least £100,000, paid into your HSBC Premier Bank accountor• have savings or investments of at least £100,000 with HSBC in the UKor• already have HSBC Premier in another countryHSBC Premier goes beyond banking, with health benefits, travel insurance and rewards. And unlike some competitor accounts, all of this comes with no monthly fee – so we don’t want you to miss the opportunity to keep your Premier account. Were you trying to meet the £100k salary or £100k in savings and investments and how active are you with the account? How much do you deposit in the account each month?0 -
For those that do meet the criteria emails were sent out this week introducing a named Premier Financial Consultant and a bullet point list of HSBC services, so hunker down and prepare for a soft-sell phone call soon0

My Premier account has been dormant since the end of last year and I moved my S&S ISA (which was no longer enough to satisfy eligibility for Premier). I still haven't heard a peep from them since the initial email in January, other than general advertising emails about Premier services.0

I have about 100k going in over a year but it’s not all from salary. I have never been offered an account so seems to suggest they do check your actual salary!0

I've just been offered a Premier Account despite not meeting any of the criteria - it all seems to have gone through and I've got my card. I'm now puzzled how I've been upgraded when I've read of so many being downgraded - unless there has been a change of policy? I've never been asked for any proof but I have been banking with them for a few years now.1

Did the money going into your account reach 100k in the last year?0

I've been an HSBC current account for a number of years and started getting offers to upgrade to Premier earlier this year (maybe over the summer?). I absolutely do not meet the income criteria. I dismissed the first couple of invitations to upgrade as a mistake and ignored them. On about the third offer, I followed the steps and upgraded. I have had a (long!) phone call about what services they offer to their Premier customers but I could easily bat those off. As part of that they did ask my salary but I just said I'm out in public and don't feel comfortable telling them verbally. I don't really use any of the features but it's been a few months now without issue. That said, I did sort out the family travel insurance thing, with a couple of underlying conditions declared (again, all done successfully).
If they contact me in the future about eligibility, I'm not particularly bothered and they can put me back to an Advance account. I'll just make it clear they were the ones to offer it to me!1 -
You can use the health services too and get a full blood test done for free. Virtual GP services and other things included too. They send you a kit home and you just return it with your blood sample. You get a detailed report after and they test for quite a few markers.
Quite useful as most GP´s would probably reject, especially for "younger" people, such a test if you not lie to them with made up symptoms that would trigger a review.

Nope, just can’t understand it. Sounds like I’m not the only one so maybe they are offering to others who don’t meet the criteria.Theleak250 said:Did the money going into your account reach 100k in the last year?1 -
I don't quite meet the criteria either but got offered the upgrade about 2 years ago. was happy to take it and the free travel insurance has saved a few quid here and there. No sales calls from them at all in that time. Will have a look at the blood thing because, well why not.1
