I probably don't need to say but just in case: make backups before you do anything.frugalfiz said:
Thank you, will try that!wmb194 said:
How much data do you have? I had similar with MS Money 2005 UK and archived the first 10 odd years of data and then it began behaving again, so you could try that. You don't lose any data, it just moves some of it to another file.frugalfiz said:I'm using MS Money Plus and Windows 11 but I keep getting errors and continually having to do a standard repair. It works fine after repair but happens frequently. Is there another version of MS Money I can download that might work any better?
The problem with MS Money is that it is very sensitive to only working with compatible versions so e.g., you can use a 2004 UK file with 2005 UK but not any International, US, French or other version. Anyway, see link below.

I stopped using MS Money in 2009 and have used MoneyDance ever since, because it was available for £1 branded as Tesco Money. But I do have MS Money installed and running on Windows 11 with my pre 2009 data in it! If it is any help to you it describes itself as Version 14.0.120.1105 Copyright (c) 2004 Microsoft.0

I got a solution from Microsoft forum regarding MS Money crashing after Windows 11 update. I am please to say after testing for a month it has worked for me, so thought I would post here in case anyone else needs a solution.
Try to move your Money file out of OneDrive / Documents
Windows 11 aggressively protects and syncs user folders. MS Money cannot safely write to synced or protected locations.
Do this first:
Create a folder like:
C:\MSMoney\Move your
.mnyfile thereOpen MS Money → File → Open → select the file from
C:\MSMoneyIf your file lives in:
- OneDrive
- Documents
- Desktop
it will corrupt over time on Windows 11.

i've been using MS Money on Windows 11 for several years now and this is the first I've ever heard about it crashing after updates, it's certainly never happened to me. Did your query to the MS forum get any responses that indicated how many users this was affecting? My Money file resides in a subfolder of Documents and always has done.0 -

For anyone coming acress this thread, that's an old version, mine is 17.0.120.3817. Probably doesn't make a lot of difference in everyday use but there may have been some issues in the earlier version that have been fixed in the later one.0 -
14.0.120.1105 is the final, patched version of MS Money 2005 UK.SiliconChip said:jbuchanangb said:If it is any help to you it describes itself as Version 14.0.120.1105 Copyright (c) 2004 Microsoft.

17.0.120.3817 is the final US "Sunset" version of MS Money that Microsoft made available for free when it was discontinued.Unfortunately it isn't compatible with previous non-US localised versions so if I wanted to use it I'd need to start from scratch as I wouldn't be able to import my 2005 UK file. There might be some roundabout way to do it but IIRC you lose a lot of data including all your transaction memos when you export to QIF files, at least in the way
Money 2005 UK allows. Edit: Having a look, you're forced to export one account at a time and that's a nightmare...0 -

I must have loaded that version in the dim and distant past and I've been using it ever since. To add to this, I suspect that I first obtained Money as part of Microsoft Works Suite, where different versions of it were included as far back as Home Essentials 98. Interestingly it appears there was a later still version, Money 2006, which I've never seen referred to before.0 -
For what it's worth I've been using V12.0 (2004) on successive Windows PCs since it was first released and it's still working without problem with W11. I could update to later versions, I suppose, but if it's not broke.......
