Got a call from my bank about £135 from nordvpn so blocked it. Then realised it's my one year VPN subscription. I'm not paying that but do I need to officially cancel somehow to avoid a ccj? How would I do that? Actually if there's a cheaper Nord subscription then I'll do that too or another company. I have mcaffee anti virus currently

It seems obvious, log into your Nord VPN account and cancel the subscription.
You may find an offer there too.
If you are past the due payment date they may chase you for the money, after all you must have signed up with automatic renewal.
McAfee will be the same, if you don't want it then cancel the renewal before it becomes due.3 -
Stop worrying about CCJ's etc......Not going to happen...In the mean time....How to cancel your NordVPN plan and get a refund | NordVPN

Mcafee is a waste of money when you can get ample protection with Microsoft defender for free. Add in Malwarebytes free version and running a scan manually every so often and you are sorted.
Loads of NordVPN deals out there such as ones at https://www.hotukdeals.com/vouchers/nordvpn.com2 -
Thanks to OP for reminding me to check the automatic renewal status of my VPN subscription.
It was off.0 -
A lot of these services like NordVPN offer a reasonable price only if you agree to automatic renewal at an extortionate price. You then have to change it in your account settings, but they imply that you will either be liable for the extortionate price, or lose the service if you cancel auto renewal, so you should wait until it is nearly expired (they hope that you will forget).I want to go back to The Olden Days, when every single thing that I can think of was better.....

First thing I do after buying a new NordVPN subscription is to cancel auto-renewal. Your subscription stays active until the end and you won't get charged. No risk of them cancelling your plan early if you delete your payment method or cancel auto-renewal.If you're within a few days of the auto renewal it could be worth talking to customer support and asking them to cancel - they normally offer a 30 day money back guarantee but I'm unsure if it applies to renewals. Otherwise just talk to your bank.Definately don't need to worry about CCJs and the like if you get your bank to cancel the payment.1

Check if you have a current subscription to VPN.
Check that auto renew is set to "off".
You "wanna sign up for cheap 2 year deals", to what? Nord VPN? Another VPN? Something else entirely? Why two years?2 -
Unless you have a specific reason for having a VPN, like needing a foreign IP address or P2P file sharing, I wouldn't bother. The original security problem they solved doesn't exist anymore.1
