My sister collects the Dalarna horses also. She has pillows and blankets and tea towels as well as other things with them on also. That is the area of Sweden 1/4 of our ancestors came from.0

I am trying to do lots of classes this year and I thought about doing a bread making class. They are so expensive! All the ones near me were booked up for months too. My online friend in the US sent me a bread recipe so I will try that one day next week.

Think of it as an investment @Wednesday2000! Have you seen Youtube Bake With Jack? He has an awful lot of instructional videos, including the whys and wherefores."Knowledge is knowing that a tomato is a fruit. Wisdom is not putting it in a fruit salad"

Brie said:Not really baking and certainly not on the level of the experts here but I've got a small baguette (Lidl) that is not going to be used so wondered about making what I call bread pudding (the one you serve hot, with cream or...). It should be enough to make a small portion for us both for dinner but my big problem is that I can't imagine making it without pineapple in it (blame my mom) and I can't justify opening a tin of pineapple and use a fraction of what's in there. I won't use raisins, currants, sultanas. I could pop in some blueberries I suppose. Or maybe some apple. And I'd need to buy some eggs.....
It's first world problems like these that stop me dead in my tracks some days!!!
What did you do in the end? In various frugal times I have made them with and without fruit and with varying qualities of custard (tinned and out of date through to freshly made!).
Whatever you made I hope it was delicious :-

I make bread and butter pudding with slices of bread, a bit of fruit and egg custard on to bake.
I also make bread pudding which is a cake with fruit in cut into squares. Grandson loves it and we make it together

Eek, the yoga centre is near a highly rated local bakery and I ended up buying a loaf on the way home as I was thinking about bread all day!It was delicious, but expensive. I should learn to make it instead.

I'm sorry to say I didn't make any bread pudding in the end. There were no eggs thus no pudding.
But for those of you who might want to try this - this is what my mom's recipe book had. I do believe thought that the pineapple was mixed about under some bits of bread. And being my mom it was always very white bread, nothing fancy.
fyi - And to make it even more lush a portion was served hot in a bowl with a scoop of ice cream on it and maple syrup poured over top. So no calories then....Bread Pudding
Butter 4 – 6 slices of bread and lay in baking dish
Mix:
2 eggs
3 tbsp white sugar
1 tsp vanilla
1 cup milk (250 ml)
1 tsp salt
½ cup raisins or tin of drained crushed pineapple
Pour over bread and let sit for 3 hours
Place in a cold oven, sitting the baking dish in a pan of water.
Bake at 300f 140c for 1 hour or until it’s well set and golden brown on top.
