My dad died in December and my mum who is 62 has no income, no job but too many savings as my dad just drew all his pensions. She can't get any UC because of this. Hi. I was in a similar circumstance. I moved from Carer's Allowance to new style ESA and when I claimed they declined it from checking the relevant tax years. I rang and explained I was in receipt of Carer's Allowance previously and the claim was then awarded. I'm not sure if someone has to override something to award the benefit in these circumstances.
